How Gen V’s Big Finale Is Laying the Groundwork for The Boys Season 5

3 months, 3 weeks - Spoilers follow for Gen V Season 2!After a wild eight episodes, Gen V Season 2 wrapped up its run with a game-changing hour that certainly puts a third season in doubt. Don’t worry, Godolkin U fans: There’s hope for more, which we’ll get into in a moment, as well as the whole future of The Boys universe and how this ties into the Prime Video franchise, directly setting up the final season of The Boys… and maybe, just maybe, Homelander’s fate as well. The episode is mostly taken up with Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) going a little nuts in order to cull the lower-tier Supes from the Godolkin U campus and power himself up enough to be able to puppet Homelander (Antony Starr). Of course, Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Emma (Lizze Broadway), and the rest of our Gen V faves aren’t about to let Goldolkin kill their classmates… leading to a battle royale that will determine the direction of The Boys universe from here on out.Watch the video for a full breakdown of the Gen V finale, “Trojan,” including whether or not there are any post-credits scenes, how the episode sets up The Boys Season 5, what’s next for The Boys and its spinoffs, and if we’ll ever get a Gen V Season 3!

Gen V Season 2 Review

5 months - Gen V really hit the ground running in Season 1, and Season 2 doesn’t entirely continue that momentum right out of the gate. There’s certainly a jarring disconnect in the early episodes of Season 2, as the series steps back from the status quo teased last time around and returns to the traditional college setting. But the series only improves as it moves forward and deepens the drama for Marie and her circle of wannabe superhero friends. Season 2 weaves a cohesive narrative built around the idea of overcoming trauma and becoming something greater. It does so even as it introduces one of The Boys universe’s best and most compelling villains in Hamish Linklater’s Dean Cipher. The series once again proves there’s far more worth exploring in this twisted superhero universe than what The Boys can handle on its own. Check out IGN's full, spoiler-free review of the raunchy superhero series' sophomore season.Gen V Season 2 stars Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Hamish Linklater. The first three episodes of Season 2 will debut on Prime Video on September 17, 2025.
