Yesterday, Kevin and I were standing in the hallway facing each other (both headed toward the bathroom) when he gasped really loudly and his eyes got huge. He looked freaked out. Of course I screamed "what is it?" And he just said "look what's on our screen door!"
I was almost scared to look, assuming it was a giant spider like at my mom's house or something. But I looked. And I gasped too. Look what we hand hanging around...
Sorry for the bad photo, I took it from my phone. I didn't have a camera ready.
If you can't tell, that's a giant lizard. An alligator lizard to be exact. And yes, he was hanging on to the inside of the screen which meant somehow, he'd gotten inside our apartment. Probably through the small gap between the screen and sliding glass door. That's my guess.
They can bite, but overall are harmless. I love lizards so I thought he was cool. But we couldn't keep him and he needed to go back outside before my cat saw him. My cat loves to chase and kill lizards... Though this one might have given her a run for the money. She kept walking up to the screen door, but never looked up. She missed him. As did Annabelle who was relishing having our bed to herself.
Kevin was going to grab him with a towel and accept getting bit. But I didn't see that ending well... The lizard would bite him and he'd drop him while swearing. Miss Kitty would see him and a chase would ensue that would end with a giant lizard hiding under our bed or in a closet and a bloody cat.
So I gave him a big Tupperware container and he was able to slide the lizard into it and releases him back outside. Godzilla didn't seem to mind. In fact, he was calm as could be and even hung out on the patio for a few moments before running into the bushes.
Seriously, he was so cool.
Besides that, there's not much going on besides writing, applying for jobs, editing, reviewing submissions... That keeps me extremely busy to say the least, but doesn't provide much for me to write here about.
I think my wisdom tooth hole got infected again. But I'm now on antibiotics (don't ask) and I feel a little better already. I have a problem with my eye though. It feels like something is in it, but I can't see anything (not even a sty) and its been like this for days. It feels a little better today. And before you say it... If you suggest going to a doctor, my response is "only if you pay for it". I can't possibly afford a doctor. I'm broke. Single digits in the checking account broke. So not possible thanks to the "amazing" health care we have in this country. I'll find our about whether or not I get MSI in about two months he told me. I've filled everything out, I'm going through the steps... But I don't have it yet.
Well I need to get back to work. I have a lot on my plate right now. I hope you're all well. I'll be back in a bit to check up on y'all ;)
