New footswitch

Although I do not do much phone, I do need to use it on 6m. I have a headset (Beyerdynamic DT109) and a footswitch which I use for it. The footswitch is a fairly old Heil type, which was making the PTT contact unreliably already for a long time. The actual switch inside the box is a microswitch, positioned not optimally to make good contact every time. I was fed up with it and Googled for “footswitch”. An interesting industrial type footswitch came up, sold by Conrad. It looked extremely rugged and the price was even lower than a new Heil footswitch.

Also on the inside it looks pretty solid with a clever lever system to push the microswitch in a reliable manner to make contact. In fact it is a dual lever system because the microswitch has a lever of its own. The microswitch can switch 15A, which is of course far over the top for my application … It has non-skid rubber feet to keep it in place on the floor.

All in all I am pretty sure this footswitch will serve for many years to come in my shack.
