Just before going on a one week holiday to Egypt (Red Sea. Diving, playing golf but no radio), I burnt my 30/40m combi dipole. In an attempt to work P29 on 40m I had to use high power in order to fight the huge pile-up. Apparently moisture on the trap and the power made the coax capacitor to burn. I could repair the trap quite easily by replacing the coax capacitor. However after raising the tower, at the very last moment, the electromotor of the winch stopped working. It appeared the start winding of the motor was short circuiting with the running winding.
Meanwhile Bijzen Antennebouw repaired it, so I have a working crank-up tower again.
