Looking for books that have middle school students of color in a suburban setting
Hi! Thank you for your amazing suggestions! Do you have a list of must have classroom “magazine subscriptions” for middle school? Like, Upfront, Boyslife, etc. Wondering if your students (or from experience) have gravitated toward certain ones more than others?
I don’t have magazines beyond comics in the classroom because I want our students to have chance to sustain their attention with longer texts. We do so much short text reading that I want them to practice with longer texts.
Do you have a list of your favorite short story collections?
What are some of your favorite unit books you have taught in middle school?
Do you have any resources for Notice and Note Nonfiction?
Ghost Boy – have you ready it? What are your thoughts?
I have, it is a haunting book that invites deep reflection.
Thank you.
You tweeted about Pierce Freelon’s upcoming picture book. You might enjoy his song:
This post was truly worthwhile to read. I wanted to say thank you for the key points you have pointed out as they are enlightening.
