Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a low-fantasy grim-dark setting, inspired by real world cultural influences. For example, the ‘Empire’ in the lore is largely based on the Holy Roman Empire. Bretonnia is a mixture of french-arthurian legends. All of this is set amidst the backdrop of a dark medieval era. While monsters, demons, mutants and other foul creatures do feature in prominence, they are not the heart and soul of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Rather, the human element and how chaos corrupts every soul it touches is the main themes that I explorer Warhammer.

It is a perilous world, and death awaits around every corner in The Old World, eager to meet would-be adventurers foolish enough to stray from the well-trodden path.
