Conan Dorama Special 2011

I’ve finally sat down to watch this years Dorama Special for Meitantei Conan (Detective Conan) and I couldn’t help feeling like I was watching a Kindaichi episode instead of Shinichi at work. (It’s the special from April - not the Kudo Shinichi he no Chosenjo series that started this July. I have yet to watch that...)Aside from Kogorô and Eri and Ran occasionally hitting something Karate style it was really like I was watching Miyuki and Kindaichi Hajime interact - not so much Kudô Shinichi and Ran... Maybe it was the case? It was so much like a typical Kindaichi Case file with the “supernatural” background and the murderer that has a traumatic past?

Am I maybe watching/reading to much mystery and crime stuff??

Watching Fûrin Kazan

Okay, before my Blurayplayer started it’s week long stay at Nippon Connection. I watched about half of Fûrin Kazan and now it’s reaching the point where Uesugi Kenshin - or the man who is about to become Uesugi Kenshin - will paly a role. (So far I had two glimpses of him and he’s played by Gackt.)
“Fûrin Kazan”(風林火山) is a shortened strategy from the “Art of War” that means “quick as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce like fire and strong as a mountain” and was written on the war banners of Takeda Shingen.

Dorama!

As I’ve suddenly have a reawakening interest in Japanese Literature and Terebi Dorama. I sat down to watch Attack No. 1 with Ueto Aya. (Am I the only one who thinks it’s scary how young she looks?)
First I thought I’d do a rewatch of the Hana Kimi dorama, but then I thought I’d rather watch something new.
I must say I did like it a lot. It didn't exactly blow me away, but I might like this version better than both the manga and anime versions - although, of course, I grew up with the original story.
The last to episodes were a little too rushed, but aside from this the story was rewritten to form one consistent story arc that I really enjoyed. There are some things I often find annoying about the Japanese women depicted on TV (in this case I didn’t particularly like the to drunks attacking the girls and then playing the victims, but it turned out okay) and the rival story between the “best friends” Kozue and Midori didn’t really feel too plausible to me, but worked in the long run.
Sports manga tend to be very much exaggerated in style and special attacks and I feared it would end up like the Tennis no Oujisama live action movie, but this turned out to be realistic in that respect and more focused on the characters than the actual games/showdowns. Still I loved that you could immediately recognize some of the characters from the comics, although they looked and felt more realistic (think about hairstlyes). The story of Hongō Shunsuke and Coach Inokuma was done pretty well, too, and the whole Tsutomu story didn’t turn out to be too melodramatic.

As I’ve finished I thought I should maybe give myself the fun of watching “anything” Kindaichi. And I didn’t care if it as Kindaichi Kōsuke or Hajime, but then chose a vampire mystery with the younger one and only a few minutes in the actor who played Hongō walked in. ;P Small world, Televison, isn’t it?
And I very much remember why I like both detective stroies and slightly crazy/disfunctiunal heros and policemen. ;)
Buuuut I think before I get back into that it’s time for some Taiga dorama. Still haven’t watched NHKs “Fūrin Kazan”. Also II do want to watch “Ryoma-den” and I haven’t watched “Shinsengumi!” in a while... So where to start? Now I had some modern Dorama I’d really like me some jidai geki!
