Philippopolis is full polyphonic synth support from 2 polyphonic up to 16 polyphonic channels support MIDI keyboard keys, faders and knobs. The synth have classic sound you can turn off some OSC by closing the filter and to work just with a one OSC, or just the PAD part on synth. For the PADs you can setup the sound individually by setup wavetable VCO waveform and waveform shape. You have and sound textures and here is comes FM 3 VCO. The octave changer aka V/Oct (number 15) from -4 to 0 and from 0 to +4 and MIDI keyboard pitchbend wheel can work separately from V/Oct module and at same time you can work with both , also you have sound effect (VCA number 9) which the sound is goes a bit out of tune (mind this if VCA is full down the polyphony will not work that is on purpose if you want to use the synth just FX sound effects. The three waveshaper (number 20) will modulate the waveform comes from both macro OSCs (number 6) and wavetable VCO (number 5). For MIDI keyboard (keys) you have two indicators by playing you will have visual rise and fall on both VCA modules.
NOTE: to change number of polyphonic go to Cardinal Host MIDI module -> right click find Polyphonic channels and choose with how poly channels you want to work. If you are choose monophonic the synth will turn to monophonic which is mean you can play only on one key (MIDI keyboard). This synth have two sides:
Side 1: classic synth with some sounds like mallet, flute, piano, pads and etc. perfect for any type of music production also the synth sit very well with melodies from OSCs you can modulate the sound you want. To keep the synth in Side 1 keep VCA full up (number 9) and octave changer (number 15) on shift 0.
Side 2: very dark and cold sound perfect for FX effects, drone, doom and eerie effects. To keep the synth in Side 2 keep VCA full down (number 9) and octave changer (number 15) on shift – 4 here you can use pitchbend wheel turn to almost full down to get some unique sound or textures. MIDI keyboard mod wheel is change the waveform on both OSCs (number 6).
Remember ! the more polyphonic channels you are use the synth (the patch) will require more and more CPU power if your CPU is low family CPUs keep poly channels to 2 or max. 3 no more than 3 poly channels, even with 3 poly channels you will get the sound you want. Also for users with low family CPUs in your DAW you can work with this synth with instrument window closed that will easy a bit your CPU.
