Fic: A Stacked Deck, XF/Terminator 2 [fndm]
Title: X-Files/Terminator 2: A Stacked Deck Rating: PG-13 Disclaimer: The X-files belong to 21st Century Fox, 1013 Productions, and Chris Carter. Terminator belongs to Warner Bros. and James Cameron. No money is being made and no copyright infringement is intended. Summary: There's a wild card in the middle of the deck and they aren't dead quite yet. Notes: I've never written Terminator fic before and the logistics don't hold up under anything but the most gentle of scrutiny. Just go with it. Also, forgive John his rusty Spanish. And finally, lyrics courtesy of Sue can be found at the bottom. Written July 2005. ( Read more...Collapse ) Sun 02 April 06 @ 08:49 pm
Fic: House, SGA RPS [fndm]
SGA RPS So someone was kind enough to respond to a piece of SGA RPS I posted a while back by saying they'd be thrilled if I wrote more and I thought, "Yeah, right." But then I'll never finish it, both because of length and because really, I have no idea what the hell happened next, but I like the snippet and thought I'd share.( 'What does anyone do in California?'Collapse ) House Now that the authors have been revealed for this year's remix, I can point y'all in the direction of my House/Wilson piece. It didn't get a lot of feedback which, since these anonymous fic fests are (theoretically) a more accurate measure of one's quality as opposed to one's popularity, does not bode well. Although really, does anyone even know my name as a writer? I didn't think so. And the lack of feedback isn't noteworthy as anything other than an interesting phenomenon I noted because personally, I love this piece. It's a little quick and a different closing line and/or scene would have worked better, but overall, I really enjoy it. And obviously I'm not a very good judge of my own work, as people loved Windsor for its characterization and to this day I still don't think there was anything special about that piece's characterization. Mostly, it was just an excuse for the pretty pictures of ties. (And please, no one take this as a plea for feedback. I honestly don't have a lot of ego when it comes to writing; I liked it, the original author [who remixed my fic, incidentally] seemed to like it, and that's enough for me.) To check out And now George Lopez's book is calling my name, so off I go.

Detention and a personal short (fndm)
I Have The Best Brother Ever You know why? Because I mentioned a few months ago in the course of a Harry Potter discussion that I'd gladly sign up for detention with Professor Snape any day. Today, I get Yahoo image search results in my email with a note that says he knows I like old hot guys. Clearly, best. Brother. Ever. So much love. La Computadora Let the trumpets of victory sound, as a new laptop has been ordered. Hurrah! It should be here at the beginning of October and it will be such a relief not to have to run up to the lab every time I need to get things done (Although I would like to do a quiet victory dance in light of the fact that they haven't revoked all my doc student privileges, i.e. the ability to key into the building in the off-hours. That doesn't, however, make up for the fact that they gave my mailbox away and haven't given me a new one. Oh, university politics. Let me count the ways I loathe thee.) Anyway, much love to my dad, who was of great help in Operation Procure A New Laptop. Fic Even though I don’t really consider myself a practicing Catholic, I enjoy going to Mass. I find it peaceful and calming and after years of having been raised Catholic, the ritual of Mass makes me feel grounded and centered. I’ve been in search of a good church since I moved here and I think I finally found one that might do the trick on Saturday. Thinking about church got me thinking about other things and prompted me to write this. And since these short personally inspired pieces seem to be the ones that resonate with people most, I thought I’d post it. ( Bendito Sea DiosCollapse ) And that's all she wrote. Have a good week, everyone.

50 Book Challenge 2004 [f]
Somehow last year , I stumbled onto the 50bookchallenge community; it may have been at I hit my 50 in June and set a goal of 100 by the end of the year. I didn't actually think I'd make it, what with starting grad school in the fall, but I figured I'd see how far I'd get. Today, I finished my hundredth book. I didn't think I'd manage it, but I did. I suppose that, in the grand scheme of things, it's probably a nerdy thing to be proud of, but I'm proud nonetheless. For one, I had a really great time. I'd forgotten how much fun reading really is. For two, I learned about so many different things: card counting, string theory, Division I basketball, cadaver research, competitive Scrabble, the porn industry, etc. For three, I had a great time talking books this year with my friends and family and swapping recommendations. But mostly, I feel like I accomplished something and had a good time doing it. For anyone who's curious,( here's my list.Collapse )

A really short Sam/Montego short (fndm)
So I woke up this morning after having a dream about Bette Middler and a t-shirt shop (due in part, I'm sure, to my convo with ( The least you could do is not call me Jake in bed.Collapse ) In other news, that's a hell of a story about Hamm's gold medal. I'd like to see him give it up, as that would be the stand-up thing to do, but I suppose fault lies with the Koreans for not protesting when they should have. Still. Ouch. Also, I was watching men's trampoline this morning (some of the sports that made into the Olympics boggle me, but don't you think for a second that I won't watch pretty boys in spandex or hot men out on the beach) and one of the competitors was from Denmark, I think. He worked as a mailman, delivering the mail on his bike every morning to pay the bills so he could train as a tramp gymnast. He bailed out on his routine in the prelims and didn't even make it into the finals and that, for me, is the saddest story I've heard about the games so far. Poor kid (and he was just a kid) was out on his bike every morning, thinking that the medal he'd get at the Olympics would make the drudge work all worth it, and then it wasn't. I feel for him. Say hello to my random hypersensitivity. And I had something else to say, but I got distracted and forgot. So there. ETA: This isn't what I was going to say, but it's worth mentioning. I'd love to see some beach volleyball slash, especially femslash. Say hello to my lustfulness.
