However, there are many literary works that are considered key in literary history that greatly influenced many authors. For many years, literature portrayed the ideal view of the self, humanity, and the world. Despite this, through time, not many texts have explored the self-awareness outlook in life. Even more, a pessimistic and negative theme is rarely expressed by some authors. Nevertheless, the few works that embrace a darker self-awareness style, most of the time have a common novel set as an inspiration. Almost as the messiah for literature, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka deeply revolutionized the art and paved the way for various exemplary novels. Being a relatively short novel, the Metamorphosis created a whole new authentic literary style as well as it elevated Kafka as one of the most influential authors of all time. The combination of the pessimistic elements and the crude reality of the main protagonist marked a theme in Kafka's works; nonetheless, the blend of fiction with reality is what defined the importance of the novel. Above all, the novel introduced the world to realism mixed with the absurd, body horror fiction, and miserable existentialist thoughts; therefore, turning it into a glorious illustration of the art of self-deprecating. Certainly, for a novel to have such impact and influence in the world, the chemistry between the meaning, expression, purpose, and words must have come from the author's own life. Franz Kafka lived an almost tragic short life full of deceptions, disappointments, and complicated family issues. Evidently, Kafka included much of his real life into his work. In fact, Zapata 1
