Declaration of Freedom
I got this at my Curves..... A declaration of independence (from a weight obsessed world) I, the undersigned, do hereby declare that from this day forward, I will choose to live my life by the following tenets: 1. I will accept my body in its natural shape and size. 2. I will celebrate all that my body can do for me each day. 3. I will treat my body with respect, giving it enough rest, fueling it with a variety of food, exercising it moderately, and listening to what it needs. 4. I will choose to resist our society's pressures to judge myself and others on physical characteristics like body weight, shape, or size. I will respect people based on the qualities of their character and the impact of their accomplishments. 5. I will avoid categorizing foods as either "good" or "bad". I will not associate guilt or shame with eating certain foods. Instead, I will nourish my body with a balance of foods, listening and responding to what it needs. 6. I will not use food to mask my emotional needs. 7. I will not avoid participating in activities that I enjoy (ie: swimming. dancing, enjoying a meal) simply because I am self-conscious about the way my body looks. I will recognize that I have the right to enjoy any activity regardless of my body shape or size. 8. I will believe that my self-esteem and identity come from within! 18 to 12
Last night I went shopping with a friend of mine, and she gave me a skirt to try on. It was a size 12...and it fit! I look really great in it too. Maybe I'll snatch my dad's cam and take a pic... Less than a year ago I was wearing a size 18...so this is really great news for me. Granted, it was Old Navy, and their sizes tend to run larger than other stores, but it's a great self-esteem booster. ^_^ |

Hello!
Name you'd like to be called: Lauren or Fae-chi Path you follow: Solitary (for now) eclectic Pagan Age: 20 Height: 5'5" Goal Weight: 145 Highest Weight: 194 Current Weight: 178 I've been a bit heavier since Junior high, but never really worried about my weight very much. But the older I got, the more it starting to bug me. In highschool I was swimming 4 days a week, but I could lose any weight, in fact I was gaining weight. The summer after I graduated, I got really sick, I had gained about 15lbs, when I was eating very little, I had a massive headache for 3 weeks straight, and I was drinking about 20 bottles of water a day. They did lots of tests and I found out I was Insulin Resistant. I weighed in at about 185, and I started taking Metformin. I didn't really watch my diet or anything like I should have, and this fall I weighed in at 194. I have always sworn to never let myself reach 200, so that was really scary. I broke down and cried right there infront of my doctor. Since then I have cut most sugar out of my diet (except for fruit, I can eat that without raising my blood sugar too dramatically). I still splurge every once in a while, by sneaking bites of cookies or brownies that my friends have, but I never have more that I bite or two. And as you can see i'm now down to 178. I don't exercise a whole lot, as I work 10 hour days, and am very active in a service group, I rarely get home before 10pm. but I try to make sure I do little things..taking stairs instead of an elevator, walking instead of driving. Religiously, I found wicca when I was about 13 or 14...and at about 16 dropped the term "wiccan" and am very firm in my pagan beliefs. I have been considering looking into getting involved with a coven near where I live, my friend and her mother are both active. I think I'm finally ready to explore my faith with others. I'm the only pagan in my family, and was one of the few openly pagan people in my high school. So i've had to deal with a lot of discrimination and abuse because of my religion, which only made my faith stronger. Why would I want to convert to a religion which apparently teaches closed-mindedness, hatred, and judgement...when my faith teaches love and understanding and a wider understanding of life, earth and each other... |

Help with restricted diet
Hey all! I'm new here, and I have a question. I found out recently that I can't eat like 8 things. They are: Wheat/wheat starch Milk (cow) (So therefore no cheese, yoghurt, etc. from cow milk) Sugar (white/cane) Spelt Potatoes Peanuts Corn I think that was it. My question is: Where do I find food that I CAN eat? I've been doing ok with meat (sorry to the vegans!), veggies, and rice (and rice noodles), but today I'm craving ice creama, and I can't find any soy ice cream that doesn't have white sugar!!! Any ideas??? |

Some tips for better eating would be... 1. At least 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. 2. Drink a minimum of 64 oz of water a day. 3. Cut out the sodas. You'll loss 5 pounds just by doing this! 4. Switch from refined complex cards to whole grains. Whole wheat bread is better than white and multi grain is better than wheat! 5. If you eat meat watch the types you eat. beef is fattier than chicken and pork is fattier than beef. Hot dogs and sausages are just fillers(read lips and assholes). 6. Start a food journal where you write down EVERYTHING you eat and drink each day. Include calories and fat grams. If you can't be honest with yourself on paper you won't lose the weight. 7. Don't starve yourself. Your body will store all the extra calories you eat and cause you to pack on the pounds. |

Plans
I was wondering how everyone was trying to acheive their weightloss goals. Are you on a certain diet or fitness plan? Do you have a rewards system when you reach mini goals? Just to start this off here is my plan... My weightloss plan is healthy low calorie eating. I've cut out the junk food and sugar. I try to eat a vegan/raw foods diet but sometimes slip and eat a bit of chicken. I also have a gym membership but sometimes work prevents me from going. When this happens I have a bunch of fitness videos on my computer and VHS tapes I can do hen I get off set. |

Not a weight loss question but still on-topic... My s.o. has decided that if our housemate, Jeremy, can't be respectful to me in any way and resolve this "disagreement" that they are having(about parking in the garage) then Jeremy has to move out. My s.o. is having trouble dealing with this loss of his "friend" and housemate. Now, my question is, is it wrong of me to do a spell to speed this along and help ease the pain and loss for my s.o? I want this to be near painless for him. I also want to do a major house cleansing once this is over. Any recommendations for this? I've done smaller/simple cleansings, but this is a much bigger job(Jeremy is a negative person who has our cats scared of him and the house drops atleast 10 degrees when he comes in). x-posted |
