GLOSSARY TERM

License Enforcement

License enforcement includes all mechanisms that prevent software from being used outside the boundaries of its licensed rights. This might involve activation checks, periodic validations, or usage monitoring.

Enforcement protects against piracy and overuse, and is often embedded within the application itself. It can include both proactive mechanisms (e.g., preventing launch) and reactive ones (e.g., disabling functionality after a license expires).

iLok Licensing embeds enforcement directly into the application binary for strong, tamper-resistant execution control.
