Happy Monday morning people.

The light bulb moment….

Goals

I’m one of those people that just floats along and if something good happens I feel lucky but since last year I’ve been reading and listening to allsorts of advice that say to be successful you need a plan and by that I mean goals.  Where do you want to be by the end of 2016?  How do you want your business to grow? Where do you see your business in two years time? There’s so many questions that I struggled to answer.  Then on Monday I had a light bulb moment.

I’ve been racking my brain, what do I want, where do I want to go, business goals, personal goals.  It’s something that I’d never thought much of.  I’m not a huge planner I just like to end up where I end up.  This year I decided that instead of floating along and hoping things might happen I’ve wrote some goals down in a cute journal (I love journals).  I’m hoping that this will help me stay focused and keep me on the path I want to be on.

I’m sure my goals will change day to day but I think the aim of them will be pretty much the same.  Its just how I get there will change from day to day or even week to week.

I follow Ben Coomber nutrient and he’s always rattling on about goals and on a facebook post he wrote ‘what are your goals for 2016?’  I replied that I have no idea and he ask ‘why?’ and I replied ‘I’ve no idea?’ .  Then I felt stupid.  So for the next few months (yep it took that long) I’ve been thinking about goals.  It was only on Monday when I was listening to Bens podcast that I suddenly thought wait a minute, I have goals and then I got my journal and for the next hour I wrote my goals down.

I’ve split them into sections …..

1.Cycling.  What do I want to achieve this year?  How?

My goal is to be fitter, so I’ve worked out a training programme and because its wrote down I’m more likely to stick at it.

2. Business Goals – What do I want to achieve weekly i.e sales.

I want to increase sales so I’ve planned how I’m going to do this.  Everyday I’ll be making a step towards that goal and it’ll be a small step in a grand plan.  I’ve got three pages of ideas so I’ve got plenty to go at.

3. Home – What do I want to achieve this year?  How?

I want to get our house finished decorated and I’ve been thinking about it for a while and have  been gathering images on Pinterest for sometime but just haven’t made a start.  The first step in my plan is to have a clear out.  This is quite a minor goal but now I’ve set it I’m going to be doing small things everyday to get our bedroom decorated. (don’t laugh)

It might be small steps but I now know where I want to be heading and for the first time in ages I feel quite focused on the possibilities.

I now have a pages and pages of ideas and goals whoop whoop!!

So lets raise a glass (of ginger grouse) to goals and lets see where they take us.

Have a great weekend folks, see you bright and early Monday morning.

This weeks Sprocket explores the coasts sees Sprocket sailing by a light house in Maine.  He’s been away on half term and decided he’d have to go and do some exploring on his own.  Just him and his sail boat on the rough (ish) seas and a bag of pork scratching’s.  I’m hoping he’s going to be back for Thursdays quote.  I’m sure it’ll be another bit of useful advise 😉

Sprocket has wisdom ;)

Knowledge is power but enthusiasm pulls the switch.

Its Friday already, where has the week gone?  Looking forward to the weekend, nothing planned yet so might be just a nice bike ride and carrying on sorting my spare room out.

Its been quite a busy week with sending orders out and preparing all my lovely items for a photo shoot next week.  Can’t wait to show you the images, I’m hoping to update all my shop images so they’ll look a lot more professional, sharper and more clean cut.

Week 6 – Sprocket explores the Coast.

This is week 6 of my adventures with Sprocket involving the coast.  As usual Sprocket has slightly been naughty and diverted from the coast in to his imaginary world of pirates.  He always did fancy himself as ruler of the North Sea.  I’m really enjoying this series, not quite as much pressure as a Sprocket a day but just as challenging.

Have a great week friends and make it happen, whatever you’re trying to achieve we know you can do it 🙂

Look out for Thursdays Sprocket quote maybe he’ll give us a little motivation to get into gear.

Sprocket’s in wonderland…..

Alice in wonderland

Bonkers

Thursday as you know is quote day and todays quote is from Alice in Wonderland.  Sprocket looks cute as the white rabbit.

We went to bed on Wednesday night with the promise of snow and we woke up Thursday morning with no hint of the white stuff.  By ten in the morning we had bright sunshine so what better excuse to get out with the dogs and enjoy the delights of the North Yorkshire moors.  I can’t wait for summer to enjoy the moors on my bike and with the dogs.

This week in my studio I’ve been working on commissions, internet orders and I’ve sent out lots of lovely items to a few shops.

As usual this print is available in my shop and my Etsy shop.

'Water skiing with Candy'

‘Water skiing with Candy’

Well it’s Monday again and I keep wondering why the weekends go so fast.  Sprockets been out on the water with girlfriend Candy enjoying the little bit of sunshine we had on Sunday afternoon.  I wonder what he’ll be treating her to for Valentines day?  I bet you’re wondering if there’s anything Sprocket can’t do and I’m beginning to wonder that myself.

I’ve been parcelling lots of prints up this week in the Studio, sending originals out to the Gower Gallery and lots of new bits and pieces are heading to Our handmade Collective, Leeds.  Ebony interiors in Pickering now have a selection of my new t-towels.

I’ve also been featured on a lovely blog by create.net who host my website.

Have a great week 🙂

Check back here Thursday for Sprockets Quote.  What worldly advice will he be dishing out this week?

Sprockets quote for this Thursday

We’ve been doing these quotes for a few weeks now and it’s been good for me to do something different and it definitely helps with thinking outside the box.
