Destined to transform into a bold and brave wrestling bull, the young peacenik calf, Ferdinand gathers up the boldness to run away from a Spanish bull-training camp, which sees him end up finally on little Nina’s blissful and sweet-scented farm.
However, an unprecedented run-in with a golden bee will redirect the huge but peace-loving animal back to the old Casa del Toro academy, where the renowned matador, El Primero, usually chooses his notable bovine opponents for the fighting ground.
News of Ferdinand having been taken to fight El Primero makes its way around Spain and Juan and Paco see it on TV. Juan goes to get Nina so they can save Ferdinand.
A huge crowd has already gathered to watch the fight. Despite his unwillingness, Ferdinand ends up hitting El Primero into the wall. El Primero prepares to slay Ferdinand but decides to let him live, just as Nina and her father arrive. The audience is however dissatisfied with El Primero’s sympathy. Ferdinand and his friends are brought to the farm, a scene that sees Nina appreciate Lupe. Ferdinand and his friends then go by his favorite tree and flower field to watch the sunset.
