The church was erected in the years 1743-1762 under the initiative of Hetman Józef Potocki. In 19 th and 20 th century the church was demolished few times: in 1868 after the fire of Stanisławów the church was partially destroyed; during the First World War, the façade of the Armenian church, including the tower, was again damaged, and inn 1917, the retreating Russian troops demolished the interior. After the Second World War, the church was closed by communist. Armenians moved the city and emigrate to Gdańsk, Warsaw, and Gliwice. The elements of the main altar, together with the miraculous painting of Our Lady of Stanisławów, were transported to Gdańsk. Some artefacts kept in the Museum in Ivano-Frankivsk and in the Archives of the Foundation of Culture and Heritage of Polish Armenians in Warsaw.

The oldest auction house in the world selling works on paper: engravings, drawings, gouaches, and pastels, put up for sale beautiful artefacts from the collection of the artist's family. 1 The auction was a huge success-all the works sold, with many of them reaching high prices, and, for the first time since 1864, it was recognized as a "white glove sale". 2 Eberhard Kornfeld, who ran the gallery until 1951, contributed not only to the popularization of modern art, but also to the development of the history of engravings and drawings of the 20th century, organizing a lot of exhibitions and publishing a number of monographic catalogues including the oeuvre of

During the communist era, Ukrainian scholars did not have at their disposal many journals or the possibility to freely publish publications in their own language.

A big part of the presented paintings, prints, and drawing came from American private collections. Accompanying catalogue by Adam M. Thomas introduces the reader to the subject matter presented at the exhibition in Pennsylvania and New York.[1] Sloan represents the Ashcan School, an artistic movement developing in the United States at the beginning of the twentieth century. His works have been present during different exhibitions, organised last century, but it was the first time, when the specific life of New Yorkers on the roofs became the main motif of the exhibition. Sloan addresses issues related to the lives of mass immigrants coming from Europe in large numbers. Ideally involved in the activities of the Socialist Party, it shows the poverty of New York. This subject did not match the New York salons, hence their absence from exhibitions for many decades.[2] There are also fewer shows in the form of oil paintings, and more drawings. And they are the most important part of the exhibition. "The city above the city" becomes a place of entertainment for the inhabitants of New York, the world of lovers' meetings and a place for recreation and rest. In oil paintings, Sloan shows beauty, like his contemporaries, William Glackens and Charles Hoffbauer, whose colourful works are shown

This exhibition is the first of its kind and features 39 icons and devotional objects from the Icon Museum in Recklinghausen, as well as from other museums and private collections. Icons In-Between explores the adaptation of iconographic models from Western Europe and the integration of "foreign" themes and motifs into Eastern Christian art. A further focus is the examination of shared cults and associated ritual practices. Additionally, Icons In-Between addresses interactions with Muslim representations of the sacred. The exhibition seeks to demonstrate the shared roots of Christian iconography, the intersections between traditions, the development of specific Eastern Christian iconographic centers, and the networks that connected them over a long historical period.
At the time, consisting mostly of merchant class, the Greeks were the second largest national group after the Armenians. They had already received the settlement privilege in 1589. They were guaranteed all city rights, including access to the city council and offices, more so than in other cities in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
As Orthodox Christians, they had also formed a separate religious community and obtained permission to build their own church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, next to the market square. The Greeks were also associated with the Zamość Academy. The Greek books were printed at the academic printing house, making it a significant centre of Greek printing in the whole Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. During the meeting, scholars from many countries will present papers on the presence of Greek art and history in many places in Europe.
The Zamość Academy, Poland, in cooperation with the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, and the Polish Institute of World Art Studies, Warsaw is organising an international conference Art of the Greek Diaspora :
Zamość, Poland, 9 – 11 May 2024.
In 2024, we will celebrate 535 years since the Greeks settled in Zamość. The planned meeting will be related to creative output of the Greek diaspora throughout Europe. The Fall of Constantinople in particular, triggered a resettlement of the Greeks in many countries and regions outside of Greece proper: Italy, the Balkans, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, and elsewhere. The comprehensive study of this type of artistic activity is rare in the history of art.
We chose the city of Zamość because the local Greek community became one of the most influential within the Greek diaspora throughout the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
The City of Zamość, as one of the modern ones, consistently implementing strategic concepts of economic development, was founded by the Chancellor and Grand Hetman of the Crown, Jan Zamoyski, in 1580. Zamość, built on the basis of architectural and urban concepts of the Renaissance architectural theories, was planned and realised by the Italian architect Bernardo Morando. From the very beginning of its functioning, the city became a multi-ethnic and multicultural organism. During that period, Armenians, Greeks, and Italians played the key roles in shaping the economic life of the city.
At the time, consisting mostly of merchant class, the Greeks were the second largest national group after the Armenians. They had received the settlement privilege already in 1589. They were guaranteed all city rights, including access to the city council and offices – more so than in other cities in the Commonwealth.
As Orthodox believers, they had also formed a separate religious community. They obtained a permission to build their own church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, next to the market square. In 1591, just two years after they were granted the privilege of settlement, 12 Greek families lived near the market square, while the total number of Greek merchants and craftsmen may have reached about 100 people. Most of them were located in the western part of the market, next to the Armenian quarter. The Greeks were also associated with the Zamość Academy. Books in Greek were printed in the academic printing house, making it a significant centre of Greek printing in the whole Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Call for Papers
The deadline for submission is 20 July 2019 Visualizing the Other in the Late Medieval and Early Modern Art (1300–1550)
The University of Ostrava and the Vivarium – Centre for Research of the Medieval Society and Culture invites art historians, historians, philosophers and cultural anthropologists to participate in the international conference Visualizing the Other in the Late Medieval and Early Modern Art (1300–1550). As Medieval Europe was ethnically and religiously diverse, we seek papers exploring the artistic, architectural, and linguistic evidence for the social, cultural, and political integration of ethnically and religiously diverse communities.
