Despicable Us vs Cleaveland Bronze

Despicable Us vs Cleaveland Bronze 0-0

Well the Us got their first game of the season underway and it was against the returning Cleaveland Bronze. How would the Gobboes fair against these Khorne Beserkers. The opening drive saw the Us huddle behind the trolls Rog and Bluejohn, letting their special weapon players try and cause a bit of carnage. All was going well, Bluejohn took out a Khorngor before deciding to go for a score. Eventually deciding against eating one of his friend, he threw him downfield. The throw went a little awry, the poor gobbo crashed into a heap and didn't move. You guessed it, he died on impact. The rest of the half was spent holding off the disciples of khorne. Helped by their inability to pick up the ball.

The second half went much the same as the first. The Bronze moved up field, a simple hand-off just to open the scoring and then the dreaded 1 followed by 1 with a re-roll. The Us even managed to recover the ball and begin their own drive down field. Once again Bluejohn decided to go with the throw. This time the throw was good, but like the last time the landing was bad. Ball spilled. Thankfully both sides seemed to fail rolls and the game petered out into a 0-0 draw.

Crash landing

The Ratbags vs Acorns 2-2

A bruising affair for the rats who ended the game with just 4 players. Even losing their Rat ogre to a hit from a halfling. Yet somehow they managed to seal a last turn score to square the match.

Gravesend vs Sergo 2-0

The Gravesend got their season back on track with a comfortable win. Sergo struggled to deal with the blizzard conditions, spurning a couple of opportunities.

The league table has been updated.

Team Photos

So I finally got around to taking team photos to the latest aditions to my roster. First up is the Naugrim Ironfists.

This team has the full complement of 16 players which also includes Grim Ironjaw. The second team is the Scuttleton Rats. I do have 2 3d printed Gutter Runners to add to the team.

Both teams are a good mix of 2nd and 3rd edition figures which are a good match. It's now got me thinking of completeing a Goblin team to run and underworld league in the future.

More Dwarves and Skaven

First up the last of my Dwarves which will complete the team. Firstly is 2 Troll Slayers, adding a bit of frenzy to the team. These are both 3rd edition models.

Next is the 2 blitzers for the team. These are both 3rd edition models. 1 is actually a lineman, but fits this team better as a blitzer.

The last 2 figures for the team will be a pair of 2nd edition blitzers that I'll use as linemen.

I'll need to get the figures together for a team photo. I also added another 3 Skaven too my 2nd team. A blitzer, Gutter Runner and lineman.

Just 2 more Gutter Runners to complete this team

Additional figures

As the league has progressed, I made the decision to paint up all of my teams that sat unloved in the lead pile. The first of these is my Dwarf team. I originally had a few 2nd edition players bulked out with converted troll slayers and linemen. I decided to rectify this by picking up a few more 2nd and 3rd edition players to complete the team properly. I also decided to change the original team colours of pink and grey to blue and pink. So here is the progress so far

Dwarf Runners

Grim Ironjaw - Star player

Dwarf Linemen

Naugrim Ironfists

So 10 players completed. Thankfully 1 of the club members donated a few figures, so I have 2 troll slayers and 2 more 2nd edition lineman on the painting table. I have also identified 2 figures to use as blitzers. They are both 3rd edition figures, 1 is an actual blitzer, the other is a lineman, but as he looks sufficiently different to the rest of the team he will proxy as a blitzer.

The other team I am working on is a second Skaven team. These are also a mix of 2nd and 3rd edition figures. The 2 ranges mix well together. My 2nd edition Rat Ogre and the surplus blitzer has also had a change of team colours.

Linerats and Throwers

Scuttleton Rats

To complete the team I have a 2nd blitzer, another Linerat and a Gutter Runner. Mitch has also printed me 2 resin Gutter Runners as the metal version goes for silly prices on auction sites.

The last additions are 2 more blitzers for my Orc team - Da bad Moon blitz. Both have had slight conversions. The one on the right had the plume removed. The one on the left had a head swap from a Black Orc player. It is probably slightly too large, but he stands out as the team captain.

In a league update the Miami Rotters got back to winning ways, defeating the LV Raiders 1-0 in a brutal affair. This consolidates them in second place in the table.

Rat Ogre

Mitch at the club got himself a 3D printer and generously provided me with a Rat Ogre and the Star player Hakflem. So I decide to get the Rat Ogre done. It is a beast of a figure and has to be on a 40mm base. Not much of an issue as my Skaven team are the old 3rd edition on 25mm bases.

He will replace the existing 2nd edition Rat Ogre in the team. I also took the opportunity to paint up more balls.

2 are from the Dark Elf  sprue and the other is from the 3rd edition boxed set. I now need to complete my Necromantic team.

Ratsburg Squealers vs Da Bad Moon Blitz

So tonight Mitch and myself gave the new rules a try out as part of the Pre-season before our league starts, Miitch took the Squealers as he wanted to try out a Skaven team. I took the Blitz.

The game started with the Blitz receiving. They quickly got hold of the ball and began to form a cage to protect the ball carrier. Meanwhile the Squealers attempted a quick break through but after making little success they pulled back out of range of the Orc. Meanwhile the Blitz tightened up their cage and began to trundle down the field. One of the Squealers Blitzers managed to get himself trampled to death under the cage. Eventually forcing an opening on the right hand side, The Blitz made a succressful pass and an Orc Blitzer charged to the line for the early score.

From the re-start the Squealers Gutter Runners burst into space, while the remaining blitzer with a few line rats in support tried to create a gap on the left hand side. With the opening created, their thrower swept around, handing off to a Gutter Runner who then burst into space before firing a pass to an open colleague who quicly danced his way into the endzone. 1-1 right on half time.

The second half began and once more the Skaven charged down the left flanks. With most of the Orcs tied up in the tackle zone. Leaving a single Blitzer to make a last ditch attempt to knock out the Gunner runner. Doubke skulls, then a reroll only got a push back. Not enough as the Gutter runner simply dodged out of the tackle zone before moving into the endzone to give the squealers a well deserved 2-1 lead. However the Blitz still had 7 turns to get a score.

So 7 turns, well the Blitz would go for the tried and trusted cage. Then promptly failed to pick up the ball. Luckily the Squealers had set up well back and were unable to exploit this. The Blitz promptly regathered the ball and began to push down the right hand side. The Squealers did their best to try and disrupt the cage, but were being gradually forced back towards their own line. With the Blitz eating up the turns as they ground their way downfield, The Squealers tried a desperate last ditch blitz However luck was not on their side, rolling a 1 for a go for it, promptly falling flat on their face. This allowed the Blitz to use their last turn, clearing the squealers out of the way, creating the gap for their thrower to tie the game in the last turn.

A good run out for both teams, finishing honours even at 2-2.

The Ratsburg Squealers

So my Skaven Team also got a bit of a refurbishment. When I dug them out I realised that only half of the team had actually been painted. Even worse the Jade/blue armour colour I had chosen was no longer in production. I tried to mix the colour unsuccessfully so opted to re-do in a field grey then completed the rest of the models.

Ratsburg Squealers

Linemen / Linerats

Gutter Runners

Stormvermin

Rat Ogre and Thrower

The sharp eyed amongst you will have picked out one of the Linemen and Rat Ogre are the old 2nd edition models. They match well with 3rd edition figures. I also have a spare Stormvermin as you can only field 2. Not sure how that happened.
