As we begin the Season of Lent, we invite Sisters, Associates and Staff to join us for our journey from Ashes to Alleluia.
Together, we face our need for reconciliation, we move towards repairing what is broken in ourselves, and then to mending our relationships.
You can follow these reflections, actions and prayers on social media or on our website.
The Sisters at the Columbus Motherhouse recently hosted a joyful Tết celebration, marking the Vietnamese New Year with food, fellowship, and cultural traditions. Sisters prepared homemade eggrolls, and the kitchen staff added a festive meal and cake that everyone enjoyed.
Our Congregation is blessed with more than ten Vietnamese Sisters, including Sr. Mary Vuong, Sr. Mary Phuc Nguyen, and Sr. Phuong Vu, who are currently serving in Columbus. Their presence is rooted in a long history: years ago, a Vietnamese Sister came to Kentucky to study and was later sponsored when she returned home. After the fall of Saigon, she and other Dominican Sisters from Vietnam were welcomed to St. Catharine, beginning a lasting connection that continues to enrich our community today.
The celebration highlighted meaningful Tết customs. The giving of lì xì—lucky money in red envelopes—honors both children and elders, while the colorful Bau Cua Tom Ca dice game brought laughter and friendly competition to the day.
We are grateful for the gift of our Vietnamese Sisters and the vibrant traditions they share with our community.
We are blessed to celebrate more than 40 women whose shared 2,785 years of faithful service testify to lives given in love to God’s people.

The Dominican Sisters of Peace and our Associates warmly welcome you to join us along a journey toward a more peaceful, equitable, and just tomorrow.
In keeping with the four pillars of the Dominican Charism, Prayer, Study, Community and Service, our Sisters around the world show our love of God through our service to God’s people. Our multi-cultural, multi-generational Congregation serves in 27 dioceses across the United States and in Nigeria.
As members of the worldwide Order of Preachers, we share the Gospel of Christ’s peace through our words and through our lives.
The Order of Preachers, abbreviated OP, is also known as the Dominicans, after our founder, St. Dominic. The Dominicans were the first itinerant order, leaving the monastery to preach the truth of the gospel and Christ’s love.
The first Dominican institution was a convent in the French city of Prouille. The order was founded in 1215 in Toulouse, France.
The first Dominican women religious in America were our foremothers, the Dominican Sisters of St. Catharine, founded in 1822 in Kentucky.

We are grateful to Suzanne Wong for her image of Signadou. Signadou (from the French, meaning ‘sign of God’) is the site in Fanjeaux, Southern France, where St Dominic’s vision for the Dominican Order began to unfold. We are blessed by Suzanne’s preaching.
