We are glad to welcome the National and University Library in Zagreb as a new ordinary member of the OPERAS community in 2025.
<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) is the largest library in Croatia and a key institution in the country\u2019s research and academic landscape. As both the national library of the Republic of Croatia and the central library of the University of Zagreb, NSK plays a pivotal role in preserving Croatian written heritage and enabling access to scholarly content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSK has been systematically building its collections since 1816, primarily through legal deposit. In addition to printed materials, the Library increasingly focuses on digital content through both digitisation and electronic legal deposit. It also maintains the Croatian Digital Library and administrates national open access repositories, contributing to the development of Croatia\u2019s research infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, NSK has strongly aligned its services with the principles of Open Science. A dedicated e-research division manages the national e-resource consortium, negotiates transformative agreements with publishers, and facilitates open access publishing for Croatian researchers. The Library coordinates the Central System for Bibliometric Services, offering support in research evaluation and scientific productivity metrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSK is also active in citizen science. Through national and international projects, it promotes public engagement in research and organises regular training programmes. Since 2022, more than 800 librarians have participated in its webinars and workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Croatian DOI Office, NSK ensures persistent identification of research outputs in collaboration with Crossref. It also assigns URN:NBN identifiers to digital resources hosted by cultural and academic institutions across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through these activities, NSK is helping shape a more open, accessible, and collaborative research environment in Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drago nam je \u0161to mo\u017eemo po\u017eeljeti dobrodo\u0161licu Nacionalnoj i sveu\u010dili\u0161noj knji\u017enici u Zagrebu kao novom redovnom \u010dlanu OPERAS zajednice u 2025. godini.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nacionalna i sveu\u010dili\u0161na knji\u017enica u Zagrebu (NSK) najve\u0107a je knji\u017enica u Hrvatskoj i klju\u010dna institucija u istra\u017eiva\u010dkom i akademskom krajoliku zemlje. Kao nacionalna knji\u017enica Republike Hrvatske i sredi\u0161nja knji\u017enica Sveu\u010dili\u0161ta u Zagrebu, NSK ima klju\u010dnu ulogu u o\u010duvanju hrvatske pisane ba\u0161tine i omogu\u0107avanju pristupa znanstvenim sadr\u017eajima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSK sustavno gradi svoje nacionalne zbirke od 1816. godine, prvenstveno putem obveznog primjerka. Uz tiskane materijale, Knji\u017enica sve vi\u0161e usmjerava pa\u017enju na digitalni sadr\u017eaj \u2013 putem digitalizacije i elektroni\u010dkog obveznog primjerka. Tako\u0111er odr\u017eava Hrvatsku digitalnu knji\u017enicu i upravlja nacionalnim repozitorijima, pridonose\u0107i razvoju istra\u017eiva\u010dke infrastrukture Hrvatske.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U posljednjim godinama NSK je sna\u017eno uskladila svoje usluge s na\u010delima otvorene znanosti. Poseban proces e-znanstvene informacije upravlja nacionalnim konzorcijem za e-izvore, pregovara o transformativnim ugovorima s izdava\u010dima i omogu\u0107ava otvoreno objavljivanje za hrvatske znanstvenike. Knji\u017enica koordinira Sredi\u0161nji sustav za bibliometrijske usluge, pru\u017eaju\u0107i podr\u0161ku u vrednovanju istra\u017eivanja i mjerenju znanstvene produktivnosti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSK je tako\u0111er aktivna u podru\u010dju gra\u0111anske znanosti. Kroz nacionalne i me\u0111unarodne projekte poti\u010de uklju\u010divanje javnosti u istra\u017eivanja te organizira redovite programe edukacije. Od 2022. godine vi\u0161e od 800 knji\u017eni\u010dara sudjelovalo je u njezinim webinarima i radionicama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kao Hrvatski ured za DOI, NSK osigurava trajnu identifikaciju istra\u017eiva\u010dkih rezultata u suradnji s Crossrefom. Tako\u0111er dodjeljuje URN:NBN identifikatore digitalnim resursima koje pohranjuju kulturne i akademske institucije diljem zemlje.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kroz ove aktivnosti NSK pridonosi oblikovanju otvorenijeg, dostupnijeg i suradni\u010dkog istra\u017eiva\u010dkog okru\u017eenja u Hrvatskoj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
