ORE Call for Scientific Advisors

Help shape the future of Open Research Europe: Join the Scientific Advisory Board

As Open Research Europe (ORE) enters a new phase in autumn 2026, it has launched an open call for applications and nominations to its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

To be established by September 2026, the SAB will support the governance, strategic development, and integrity of ORE from the official launch onwards. Its responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Funders’ Group, the Executive Committee, and the Operating Organisation (CERN) on scientific matters related to the publishing services and its policies (e.g. author guidelines), as well as on ethical guidelines and the peer review process.
  • Advising the Funders’ Group, Executive Committee, and Operating Organisation on strategic aspects of the platform, including its future direction, sustainability, potential new services, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Reviewing and providing advice on misconduct cases and transparency issues.

As ORE’s partner and engagement partner, OPERAS invites all researchers, and specifically members of the SSH community, to consider applying to the call and contribute its expertise in inclusive, and community-driven scholarly communication.

Researchers with experience in scholarly publishing, research assessment and committed to Open Science are encouraged to consider applying. Full details about the eligibility criteria are available here.

Participation in the SAB offers a chance to contribute to discussions that will influence the future direction of ORE and, more broadly, ongoing efforts to develop sustainable alternatives within scholarly publishing.

Since its launch in 2021, ORE has demonstrated that high-quality scholarly publishing is possible via transparent and open processes, like Open Peer Review. In its new phase, ORE evolves into a collectively funded, large-scale, open access platform serving the public good, establishing the foundation for an inclusive platform promoting transparency, accountability, and cross-border collaboration in scientific research.

Applications for the ORE Scientific Advisory Board are open until 10 July 2026.

For full details on eligibility, responsibilities, and the nomination process, please consult the ORE website  and the offical call.
