Determining an appropriate sample size is a marker of the quality of qualitative research. Howeve... more Determining an appropriate sample size is a marker of the quality of qualitative research. However, there is currently no consensus on how to achieve the size of such a sample. There are no clear methods and rules to guide researchers in achieving an appropriate sample size. In most qualitative investigations, determining the sample size is a matter of judgment, with the researcher following different landmarks to assess whether or not his or her own study sample is appropriate. This article aims to identify the main parameters that influence the researcher's decision to determine the appropriate sample size in qualitative research. În cadrul cercetărilor ştiinţifice dezvoltate, în ultimele decenii, în ştiinţele sociale, ştiinţele educaţiei, sănătate, studii de management, studiile organizaţiilor, managementul şi evaluarea programelor de asistenţă socială, putem observa că abordarea calitativă a devenit modul proeminent de desfăşurare a proiectelor de cercetare. Cercetătorii au acordat o mai mare importanţă cercetării calitative, dovadă fiind numărul mai mare de studii calitative publicate în cele mai bune reviste. Spre exemplu, în cele mai bine cotate reviste americane de Management, în ultimele decenii ale secolului al XX-lea au fost publicate mai multe studii calitative decât în ultimii 40 de ani (Van Rijnsoever, 2017). Membrii comitetelor editoriale ale publicaţiilor, evaluatorii de programe de dezvoltare comunitară, evaluatorii de programe de asistenţă socială înţeleg specificul cercetării calitative şi acordă o atenţie explicită acestui tip de investigaţie.

A case study: Macin and Babadag, Tulcea county Romania's transition from a planeside economy to a market economy involved, on a macroeconomic level, changes induced by the reform in the institutional, economic and political sphere, and at the micro level, individuals must adapt to new market dynamics, changing routines created in the old regime. The way the changes were meant after 1989 was one of the main factors that oriented the individual towards the adoption of adaptive behavior. This article proposes a comparative analysis of the representations we have for members of two multiethnic communities in Tulcea, Macin and Babadag from this perspective.
