Emily is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been with Oak Park Behavioral Medicine since 2020. Since she joined the team, she has worked with individuals ages 7-75. Though she enjoys working with all ages, Emily specializes in early-late adulthood (ages 22+). Prior to earning her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Aurora University, Emily taught for eight years at the middle and high school levels.
Emily uses a combination of CBT and ACT approaches and enjoys using her certification in Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy. In her work with her clients, Emily takes a strengths-based approach and supports each individual in valuing their authentic self. Emily takes an active approach in normalizing and validating each person’s experience, and is a good fit for individuals who have felt unheard by therapists or others in the past when discussing their chronic illness.
Emily would be a good fit for someone looking to work with a therapist with a knowledge of school concerns including navigating 504’s and IEPs. She would also be a good fit for someone seeking support with their chronic illness or the illness of a child. Emily is especially passionate about working with those who have been newly diagnosed with a chronic illness. When she isn’t at work, Emily enjoys reading, attempting new rides on the peloton, and playing with her two dogs, Jake and Elwood.
