Starman #81, coming to a comic book store near you in Jan 2010
STARMAN #81 Written by James Robinson Art by Fernando Dagnino & Bill Sienkiewicz Cover by Tony Harris James Robinson revives his beloved STARMAN series for one more issue as a Black Lantern Starman haunts Opal City. Which Starman has returned and who can stop him from wreaking havoc on the city? Well, the Shade would rather just continue his date with Hope O'Dare, but if no one else can be bothered, what choice does he have but to investigate? Just don't dare call him a Super Hero. First Shade appearance
Here it is, under the cut, if anyone's the least bit interested. Though I'd share since we aren't seeing much of Opal these days (at least to my knowledge) in DC Comics. It's not the Shade we all know from Robinson's run, but I thoroughly had a good laugh. Beware, not for those dialup friendly. 13 pages. Page 11 makes me laugh quite a bit. Well, looking like not much going on here, hmm. Just some random/old and new Starman-related news. - New Starman, possibly Thom Kallor, amalgam of others (other than Jack).
- Will be going to Arkham seeking out someone to help him sort out his past or something or another (lol) with the g-damned Batman in JSA 5
- The new Starman is probably Scalphunter reborn again. Oh, and he mentioned he has to search for her and him (and the 'him' doesn't know) and her. Let's hope him is Shade, so we can get another 2-3 comic appearance of him in JSA.
- Shade showed up in DCU's Brave New World (August 2006) in the Trials of Shazam lead-in. The art wasn't the best, but I was all for Shade getting some action. Apparently his powers also consist of green-statically charged looking electricity or something now. Two major power upgrades in a year! Awesome DC. We'll have him taking on the Monitors and Darkseid by himself in no time. ;) (kidding, kidding).
- Big letdown for anyone expecting Jack in 52 - It DIDN'T happen and won't be. However, this was said at WonderCon: "James Robinson does have a story in mind for more Jack Knight stories, and the door is open, Didio said, now, schedules just need to match up."
Back to the actual Shade appearances, since Jack hasn't been anywhere since IC: The page in question!Shade cannot even eat dinner in peace anymore, it seems. Poor guy. No wonder he's so cantankerous at times. Note, powers look wrong and Shade can't be more than 2 centuries old. Sigh, DC. Let us write the 1 page cameos for him if Robinson's not in the building. Shade also had a cameo in an issue of Birds of Prey, but it was just one frame and nothing exciting art-wise except for the fact I saw SMUDGE! Remember, JSA 4 is on sale today, the comic where the new Starman has maybe 1-2 pages. Whoohooo. Edit: Oh, and just randomly for those curious, here's what Shade looked like in his first appearance back in 1942 in Flash Comics #33: Here | Thursday, December 21st, 2006 | 10:20 am [korvac]

TPB Love.
What, if any, Starman issues remain uncollected? I am about to sell most of the run, and want to know if I can somehow reread it again some day. | Wednesday, June 21st, 2006 | 5:34 pm [korvac]

New Starman? Again? Back to the new face on the team, Starman, one of the initial mysteries of the series will be figuring out who the new hero is. Ross' version of Starman has already made an appearance in the post-Crisis DCU, as one of the array of heroes seen in the splash page of Infinite Crisis #7. But who is he? Good question - while the new Starman is from Opal City, home of Jack Knight, the previous Starman created by James Robinson and Tony Harris, although, that's about all he knows, and is looking for the Justice Society to help him find…a way, his identity, his purpose, pick one.Ugh, I'm not very fond of that old costume. Legion throwbacks for the no. But what I really want to know is, where's Courtney in that new lineup? Thoughts? | Sunday, June 4th, 2006 | 4:50 pm [jwieg79]

A good week for Starman fans...
1) James Robinson's first Batman book came out. I think I'll need to read all six parts before I can judge it, but it felt good. 2) Page one of the new Ex Machina. Just buy it (if you don't already) and you'll understand. I won't spoil that. :D | Saturday, February 25th, 2006 | 2:39 pm [piterdevries]
