One World Media’s Talent Programmes support journalists, filmmakers and media makers covering the world’s most underreported stories from the Global South. Through funding, mentorship, and industry workshops, we invest in diverse storytellers who are shifting power, challenging stereotypes, and changing narratives to shape a more representative global media landscape.
The One World Media Fellowship is our flagship programme to support and champion global journalism and documentary filmmaking in the Global South. The year-long remote programme provides up to £3k reporting grant, one-to-one mentoring, industry workshops, and a global peer network of like-minded storytellers.
A new Fellowship designed to develop knowledge and skills of journalists in how they report stories of climate change and the politics of energy transition. 6 Nigerian journalists make complex climate issues more accessible through inclusive, data-driven, and community-oriented narratives at a local or regional level.
The Global Short Docs Forum brings together documentary filmmakers to attend an intensive online training programme and one-to-one pitch meetings. Over four weeks of masterclasses, workshops and mentoring we take your short doc from conception to commission, connecting talent with media outlets.
In partnership with the Financial Times and the Pulitzer Center, this grant supports an experienced filmmaker to produce a short documentary that spotlights an underreported global health story. The selected project receives up to £20k funding, and the final film is made publicly available on Financial Times’ platforms.

In partnership with Mongabay, this grant supports a storyteller reporting on the Amazon region, to produce a short documentary film that explores the people, environments, and challenges within this vital rainforest ecosystem. The selected project receives up to $5k funding, and the final film is made publicly available on Mongabay’s platforms.

The Pulitzer Center, the Financial Times and One World Media have partnered to support a short documentary film focused on climate change and labour. The grant supported a filmmaker to explore how climate change is affecting lives and work in the Global South. Breech Asher Harani’s short documentary Chocolates Melting Away is now available online.
A collaborative project designed to enhance capacity and knowledge in solution-focused health reporting, by bringing together print journalists and filmmakers from Kenya and Nigeria. 6 journalists and filmmakers attended intensive training, and received a production grant of $7,000 and mentoring to deliver 3 short documentaries and complementing articles. Completed stories are now available online.
In partnership with the Thomson Foundation, our free online course will help you learn the fundamentals of telling a good story and what you need to consider for the editorial and practical success of your reporting.
