Santa Claus, Secret Santa and other Christmas goodies!

It seems that I did rather well this Crimbo!

Santa Clause
Three ECW/Late 1600's figures that'll be added to my Donnybrook collection.
Centre and right are 2 Col Bill's figures, but I'm not sure of the chap on the left?
Thanks Santa!!!

Secret Santa or not so....Thanks DaveD!
Three packs of ECW Musketeers including command
Once again these will certainly find their way on the painting table, to be used as militia/settler
types for early America.

My two eldest daughters were struggling to buy me something. I gave a few helpful hints!!!
I already have the book above on a CD, but a book's a lot better, I'm sure you'll all agree?

Now I wasn't expecting the book, I'd asked for a subscription to the Pike & Shot Society,
so then I could buy some of their books myself, but I got both!
Also copies of this year Arquebusier mag too!
Thank you No 2 daughter Abi

Lastly, the mystery pressie from daughter No1 Emily
Thank you Emily!
11 packs of figures that'll hopefully make it on this years Challenge?
But what are they?
They could be Donnybrook or could be En Guarde?

All for one!

Woodland Indians - Flint & Feather

How disgraceful!
Its taken me 2 years to get these beautifully sculpted and painted figures based up and finished!
These fab figures from the Flint & Feather range were a gift from my Secret Santa back in 2015.

Although I don't really need anymore Woodland Indians for my Donnybrook game, I'm gonna have
to give in and get a few more of these figures.
I wish they were available in the UK?

Thanks again

AHPC VII. Entry 3 - Donnybrook - 25mm Woodland Indians

"Concentrate on one thing at a time".........this is what I told myself in October, "Just
paint the French for Donnybrook in the Challenge".....did I listen?

Nope!

So for my third entry into this years Challenge I've painted up what I talked myself
into getting. Luckily for me I didn't buy any of these figures, 6 were part of my
Santa Claus pressie, (thanks again Santa) while the other 6 along with others were a
Xmas pressie from my 2 eldest daughters Emily and Abi.

The plan is (and my plans never seem to work out), is to paint up a 4 point Indian War party for Donnybrook, not for the French Indian Wars, but for the earlier King Philip's War 1675-78,
Bacon's Rebellion 1676 and King William's War in Canada 1688-97.
A 4 point army without characters is only 42 figures, so I may well double it up to an
8 point army??? (See what I mean about my plans?)

Anyway on with the figures...
They are from Warlord Games in the UK and will make up my first point of
 12 x Bow armed Recruits.
Now I'm not 100% happy with the paintjob to be honest, the figures look like they've had a month in the sun, with the fleshtone I've used. I knew halfway through they were to dark
but hey ho!! Suntanned they will have to remain.
These well oiled boys netted me 60 points pushing me up to 55th place in the AHPC VII.

Secret Santa, Santa Claus & Xmas Pressies

Seems this Xmas I've gone all Native!
Above is my Secret Santa pressie, some Warlord Games Woodland Bowman
and Magua with some rather nice foliage to boot!
I do know who ordered these beauties for me as their name was on the receipt inside, so a huge thanks goes to him! (No names mentioned!)

Magua makes a second appearance in my Santa Claus pressie along with him a rather festive
Native, dragging a Xmas tree back to camp!
Thank you very much goes to my Santa Claus, these will be great additions to my up and coming
excursion to North American Donnybrook.

Lastly a great pressie from daughters 1 & 2, Emily and Abi.
They always have trouble buying their poor Dad a pressie for Xmas.
We have more Warlord Native bowmen, Miami Indians and for the third and final
time we have Magua, I may have to  do a bit of conversion work, me thinks??
Also 2 packs of Perry Indians from their AWI range, bowmen and muskets.
Guess what I'll be painting for the Challenge?

Secret Santa & Santa Claus Goodies

A big thank you to both my Secret Santa and my Santa Claus for the great figures pictured!!

Don't know who sent me the North Star figures above, but they're perfect, thanks!!!

I do have an idea who did or didn't send me the lovely painted Native Americans below, lets just say
he's a  Loony Canadian  Vicar!
The figures are from Bob Murch's Flint & Feather range
and are very very tasty indeed!!!
Its been on my mind recently to expand my Donnybrook adventures over the pond
for Bacon's Rebellion, so these could be the perfect start!!
Thanks Loony Vicar!

Secret Santa and Santa Claus Pressies

Well I did rather well in both the Secret Santa and the Santa Claus.
I received 3 Warfare miniatures General's, one pack included 2 wounded/dead
figures. Also included was the Artillery maintenance lift for barrel changing, which I'm sure will be the focus on a skirmish or 2 in the future.

My Santa Claus pressie was the 3 splendid figures above, they're, according to
a letter in the packaging, 3 FIW/AWI Colonials.
I'm not sure of their make, they could be Old Glory??

Thanks have got to go to both my pressie givers and to the Ian and Cath and Chris
for organizing the whole thing
Cheers!!!

Secret Santa a belated Happy Christmas and other chit chat!

Well that's Christmas over again for another year, I had the 3 important Christmas days off work,Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day but now I'm paying the price, I swapped the three shifts with a co-worker, which now means I'm working every day until the 10th January!!!! At least the place is closed down  for the holidays and I can get a little painting done.
Apologies if I've missed any of your posts recently, like many of you, Its been a little too busy in the Rousell household, what with Christmas and work to even look at the computer for too long. So a belated Merry Christmas to all.  But now I'm back at work so I can once again bore you all to tears with my NYW figures!!

I've a few nearly bits and bobs nearly finished for Curts Challenge, I had to send an emergency plea for supplies to Warbases, just before Christmas, as I only had a few bases left. (Thanks Martin!!!!) I spent so much time getting figures ready for the Challenge I didn't even think about the damn bases!!!

As I already mentioned in a previous post, my main aim in this years Challenge is to get the French NYW army completed. I've been sorting through Richard's Horse units, to save himself money he only bought 1 command pack per regt of horse, now me being the particular plum I am, I've got to add the missing command stand and flag to all the second squadrons, which will leave spare figures which I'll then add to, to make new units. So I'll be posting a few 12 man units that I only painted a few figures for, so you'll have to trust me on this one!!!!

Thanks have got to go to Ian and Cath for organizing the Secret Santa plan. And thanks to my not so secret Santa, Dave D, who sent me the most excellent figures in the pic above, they're 2 Essex minis wagons to go with my NYW figures, I do plan to get these sorted for the Challenge, Thanks Dave!!!!!
I hope my Secret Santa liked his gift, he was a right bugger to by for, I searched his blog for what seemed like an age to get some ideas, but in the end gave in and emailed Cath, who sent me a nice long list of goodies to buy from, that made it a lot easier.
I also got three wargaming gifts for Christmas, which I don't usually get, as the Mrs R seems to think I spend enough money on figures and stuff throughout the year. She may have a point????

The Fort William Henry Osprey

War & Conquest Rules

And finally John Childs newly re-printed The Nine Years War and the British Army 1688-1697
A must if you're interested in the period

Apologies have got to go to Tamsin, I was sorting my shed out, making room for more figures, when I found the Sandbags they she most graciously presented me with at Salute. We did think we'd have to use them a couple of weeks ago, as the Thames was going to flood, which I live pretty close to.  Thank God we didn't have to use them after all. When I picked them up a figure fell out of the packet......

Lastly, you may have tried to go to the post I posted yesterday, which infact wasn't a post at all.I was trying to comment on Juan's blog, Jugando con "Munequitos" and somehow my comment turned into a post??? which I deleted as soon as I could, so it's all Juan's fault!
I couldn't have possibly pressed the wrong button....could I????

I hope you all had a great Christmas, plenty of booze, grub and of course painting!!!!
