My Salute Loot! - Salute 2012

Just a quick post today, I thought I'd share my Salute Loot, (the title was pinched from BigLee's blog).
As you can tell by the pic, most of my money was spent on the Gripping Beast stand, I finally bought the Saga ruleset and two packs of dice, the Normans and Anglo-Saxons, unfortunately they'd sold out of the Viking set, so I'll make my own, hence the blank dice. I also bought the new Muskets and Tomahawks set of rules, which flicking through are remarkably similar to the set I've been writing myself!! Lastly I bought a pack of LBMS shields for the Gripping Beast plastic Vikings I bought at Cavalier in February.

Away from the Beast I picked up my order from Essex Minis, several packs of NYW 15mm figures to add to my ever expanding army, after examination I found they'd given me two packs I hadn't ordered instead of the ones I wanted, it was an easy mistake, not sure if it was mine or Essex's, but a quick phone call sorted the problem out, and a couple of days later I had the packs I wanted.

I also picked up two books from Osprey I'd been after for a while, even better I got one, Tomahawk and Musket for a fiver!!!

My last purchase were two sets the rulers and counters for Saga sold by Warbases, just gotta read the rules now!!!!

Lastly I met Honoury Reject Seb and he handed me my prize "Starlingrad" by Antony Beever,  that I won from his online competition a couple of weeks ago, so that's another book I've got to add to my reading pile, cheers for the prize Seb!!!!

Bloggers of the World unite at Salute 2012

Myself and Dave D from One Man and his Brushes
An open invite to all and any bloggers went out by blogpost from myself, Fran and BigLee, the week before Salute. I must say I was very pleased and  impressed with the turnout. I'd like to thank you all for coming over and having a chat with the Rejects and bloggers. We'll definitely do it again next year!!!
The Posties Rejects T-shirts went down a storm as well, many a time I saw people staring at the logo, sometimes they spoke to me "Are you the Ray from Don't throw a 1?", to which I'd proudly answer, Yes! But most of the time they'd stare and walk straight off, probably  thinking, "Whose that prat in the crap t-shirt!!"  I even got recognised by one of the guys on the Gripping Beast stand!!!
Oh the fame!!!!!!

BigLee, Emilio  Benito from Gaming with TooFatLardies and Fran

Tomsche and his Pickachu hat from Societa di archeologia e cimeli, Tomsche is a bad,
bad boy, just ask him about his girlfriend!!
I Finally met the Godlike Barry Hilton of The League of Augsberg and BLB2 fame and,  for some reason Barry thought I didn't look much like my blog avatar, ( Can't think why???)
Myself and Martin from Warbases, a top quality product!
Postie even managed to get their artwork in the photo!!
I also met and spoke to Al from The Wargames Shed

Salute 2012 - My pics

Its all over, all the build up, all the lists and all that walking about. And what a day it was too! Myself Fran and Postie made it up to the Excel centre, for our yearly visit to Salute. There we met up with BigLee, to handover his Rejects shirt which he duly put on, there were pics, but I'm not gonna to put them up, for fear of repercussions!!!! BigLee's got me on camera with some cake and I understand it was messy???
I borrowed Postie little camera so it'd fit nice and snugg in my pocket, unlike my giant one, but guess what twat forgot to swap over the SD card....ME! Posties well known for his lack of upto date gadgets, his SD card is only 128MB's and was half full already, so there's not as many pics as I'd have liked, and looking at other bloggers photos I seem to have missed out seeing a hell of a lot of other excellent games.
Our planned meeting with fellow bloggers went very well, meet and chatted with many an unfamiliar face, but  I'll post more on that another day.

Wait for me!!! The Lurker and Postie race off.
Postie, telling The Lurker off for using the wrong toilet.
The queue, it took us about 30 minutes to get in.
In my opinion and later the judges, the best looking game at the show.
Corunna 1809. by Essex Gamesters. Made all the more poignant as it was dedicated to a recently
deceased member of their club, Paul Mumford.

Dues Vult! by Fireforge Games - The Teutonic Knights were beautiful.

I'm not 100% sure on the title of this game, but it looks like a ECW battle
and it looked excellent. Any ideas anyone??

Not usually my thing, but you just had to admire all the terrain and figures here.
Slowing the Tide by Chemins de Feu

Aspern-Essling - Only 1 photo was in focus, dammit! Not sure who the club were?
Sebastopel, by Battlefront Miniatures & Wargames Illustrated.
I had a good chat with Barry Hilton and Dave (Toggy) who were running the game.

I bought Postie and Fran a Burger King on the way home, Fran was a little miffed
he had no cheese in his Whopper.....Miserable Git!

A Sebstitute Gamer?

The day after Salute some of The Rejects are getting together for a ACW game. We invited Curt from Analogue Hobbies and Dallas from Fawcett Avenue Conscripts, to come and join in the fun, as they were both over in the UK on their holiday and of course to visit Salute.
Unfortunately I had an email from Curt saying Dallas now can't make the game !
This caused a little problem, Postie has spent the last couple of days setting the game up for 6 people, so a frantic hour or two went by before one of them lightbulb moments occurred.
I'd arranged last week to meet up with a certain chap, at Salute, who I won a prize from in a competition 2 weeks ago, so a quick call and we've got our Sebstitute for Sunday.

Salute 2012 ...Meet the Rejects!!!!!

Four of Posties Rejects Fran, Postie, BigLee and myself are all off on a jolly to Salute this Saturday. We've all been saving up our pennies and will hopefully go on a mad spending spree. I'm very imaginatively hoping to find some 15mm FIW or NYW figures all painted and based at the bring and buy for a stupidly idiotic price......fat chance of that!!!

As some of you may already know, we were supposed to be helping out Paul Darnell on his WWII game, but unfortunately he had to cancel. This would have been ideal as it would serve as a great meeting place for fellow bloggers to come and meet the Rejects and have a chat. So back to the drawing board we went.
We did then suggest the idea of meeting in a local pub, but we've decided that this would take out to much time from the show.
So what we've decided to do instead is to meet up at the show itself, it just seems the easiest option for all. So the four of us will be loitering around the Seating area on the right in the pic below from 1o'clock to around 2 o'clock.

We will of course be available to sign any autographs and for just a small fee we will allow photos to be taken with the 3 chimps and myself. Fran's willing to do any pose........yes any!!!! Clothing optional??

Also once again as some of you may know we're putting on our first game at a show, Broadside in June. For the show we've had T-Shirts made up, so we look like we know what we're doing????
We trying to decide whether we should where them at Salute or not,  we don't want to look too big-headed ( all too late for Fran!) So were gonna leave it up to you guys, do we where the shirts or not????

David Beckham eat your heart out!
As you can see, myself and my special friend Fran were let out of the Madhouse for these photos. We both have our names above our right teet, with the Posties Reject  logo above the left. (Note how Fran has sucked his gut in for the pic!) And on the back we have the name of our blogs.
They didn't come out exactly how we wanted, but, hey they only cost £15 each.
Christ! Look at that grey hair!!!!
