Music composing and arranging can be a difficult and painstaking activity. One Man Band is a program that simplifies these tasks by presenting you with a huge amount of options that you can use to compose and/or arrange your own music.
First, you can choose the type of accompaniment you need. There are a huge variety of preset styles that go from jazz and rock n' roll to Dixieland and bluegrass. You can also create your own style if you wish. Then, you can select the instrument that will play the background music. There is also a great variety of them: saxophone, guitar, organ, piano, drums, an more. The third step is selecting the chord the selected instrument will play. You can find chords in all keys and variations.
The last step is where the true creative process starts. In the lower panel, you can find a virtual keyboard. Although it is better to use a real MIDI keyboard, you can use your standard QWERTY computer keyboard to compose the music that will go over the accompaniment. You can also go up an down an octave to better suit your needs.
These are only the basic steps. The program offers much more options, and if you are a musician, you can take advantage of all of them.
One of the drawbacks of the program is its interface, which is rather dull and looks overcrowded. Maybe a redesign will make it look better. More
