While the aim of the series of short documentaries entitled “Getting away from the postcard” is to describe the day-to-day life of a tourist site through its atmosphere, here the olive tree is seen as an object of heritage. In episode 4 of this series, the practices and uses to which the olive tree gives rise change as the seasons progress. From the scorching summer to the snowy winter, from the olive festival that is the emblem of Provence to the different types of harvesting and pressing, the olive tree bears witness to daily life in Provence.
The olive tree is therefore a testament to the region’s heritage, as well as to tourism practices.
