A look back at the closing conference

30 participants from 5 European countries (Portugal, Greece and France, of course, but also Italy and Spain), 4 days, 16 presentations, 2 tastings, 4 visits to museums and businesses…
The closing conference of the Olive for all project more than lived up to the organisers’ expectations: to take a reflective look at the past 4 years, highlighting the results obtained, but also and above all to offer a collective reflection on the new prospects for research and collaboration opened up by the project, making room for new themes and new stakeholders.

Closing symposium in Avignon

To bring to a close the work carried out over the four years of the project Olive For All, the French team is organizing a symposium from April 23 to 26, 2025 in Avignon. The researchers involved in the project will present a synthesis of the work carried out in the three countries. It will also be an opportunity to open up new perspectives, consider the future and see how work can be pursued, by inviting other researchers to reflect alongside the project teams. The colloquium will be structured throughout a series of presentations, meetings, round-table discussions, tours and tastings.

Reception survey for the “The olive tree, our tree” exhibition

The temporary exhibition “L’olivier notre arbre”, on show since May 2023 at the Musée de Salagon in Mane, enables visitors to to discover the many facets and challenges of the olive-growing heritage through five themed areas. The first room shows visitors the many representations of the olive tree (everyday objects, vacation memories, landscapes, smells…). The second shows the heritage of the olive tree, handed down from generation to generation and present at every moment of life. Before discovering the realities of olive-growing heritage in the contemporary world, visitors are invited to settle into a sensory space. Here, they can listen to an immersive sound work. The final room presents the olive tree as a living heritage, a source of innovation and development for the communities involved. Three documentaries are shown in another part of the site, evoking the olive-growing heritage as a means of promoting tourism in Portugal, but also how this heritage bears witness to everyday life in Provence.

In addition to an expert evaluation of the exhibition, carried out during the Rendez-vous aux jardins in June by a team of researchers from the “GIS Patrimoine en partage“, a public reception survey is being carried out until the end of July.
