Skål's Necro95 wrap up post

Another OWAC in the bag. First off congratulation's to everyone who finished this season. We had a lot of great projects this season and it was awesome to see how much everyone did. You all have done some impressive painting as well as put up some outstanding Oldhammer vibes. Well done everyone.

I had a lot of fun finally painting up some Necromunda gangs. I have been wanting to do this project for quite some time now and OWAC was the perfect excuse to break into my old gangs and get some paint on them. Here is my OWAC entries for this season.

Thoughts enviability start to wander into what should , nay what could I possibly paint next season. Will we be allowed to do like we did this season and I can dive into more Necromunda gangs. I mean I really do need to paint up more gangs and I could do another whole season to get through the rest of them. Or do I wander into the far reaches of 1997 and break out some Chronopia? I do have enough to perhaps build two forces to contest the great lands that the Old Gods deserted? Or perhaps the Great Overlord brings us back to the old ways and we are only allowed to do Oldhammer and Rogue Trader. What then? Do I continue to build my Wood Elves or Dwarves? Do I keep going with my Eldar? Or just maybe I dive into a new Oldhammer project? Do I finally let Chaos into my welcoming heart and rip the Old world asunder with the mighty forces from the Realms of Chaos?

So many choices. So much time to change my mind a thousand times before we kick off the next season.

But wait I am getting ahead of myself. I will enjoy the victory of completing another OWAC and not sub-coming to the Field of Bones.

To the profound ignorance which we brought to this endeavor; because had we known what was ahead, we never would have started.

Here's to the sweet smell of success.

Here's to General Douglas MacArthur, who said, "There is no substitute for victory."

To victory. As Alex Haley said, "History is written by the winners.”

Let's have a drink,
Let's have some fun.
Because at last
The job is done.

Hello darkness my old friend (Skal's Troop month 266 pts)

In restless dreams, I walked alone

Narrow streets of cobblestone

'Neath the halo of a street lamp

I turned my collar to the cold and damp

When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light

That split the night

And touched the sound of silence There was always something so badass to me about the Dark Eldar Incubi. These dudes were not even elite's, these were the cream of the crop, the most murderie or the murderie (is that a word?). These were the personal retinue of the Dark Eldar Lord! Oh hell yeah bring on the murdering cause thats what these elves do.

I wanted this unit to match the Archon that I will be using as the Lord of my force so I went with the Kabal of the Black Heart colors that I used for my warriors. I ended up making the weapons pop so that this unit would be easy to find on the table.

I painted up eight of the of the standard two handed power weapon the "Punisher" and than one Shredder and one Blaster for further options.

These are going to add some much needed armored troops as well as some murderie power weapons to my growing Eldar "Pirates". They would work well if I wanted to use them as Howling Banshees or even Striking Scorpion's if I am playing a "Pure" 2nd edition game with my Dark Eldar force.

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
Then the sign said, "The words on the prophets are written on the subway walls
In tenement halls"
And whispered in the sound of silence

Till next month

Another round please!

What an adventure this has been. Six months of Dwarven painting and I have a decent playable force. This photo is the first time I have them all out on the table and man it felt good, a feeling of accomplishment and pride filled me once they were all set out.

For this final month I wanted to paint up something a little different, a little thematic, and a lot of beer. I finished off my adventure with the Runesmith on his mighty Anvil of Doom (278 pts). I wanted the anvil to look weathered and a little "Grimdark" so I worked with a mix of dark greens and browns. For the Runesmith I needed to replace his missing staff and so I decided to sculpt Bugman's mug as a symbol for the forces to rally around (cause you know beer, dwarves love it so what better way to get em to follow you than to carry a large beer mug).

During this adventure I also ended up painting the hill and the huts in these photos. I wanted at least one hill to place my war machines on during games and the huts I wanted to use as Bugman's camp for a few scenarios.

Final Bugman’s Army List OWACIII

I had a great time painting the Dwarve's and I cant wait to get them on the table to go head to head with my Wood Elf army from OWACII.

Here is the force that inspired my OWACIII army.

And here is the final photo of the units that I painted to match that old army.

I am super happy that I was able to do this force and bring to life an army I would read about in the old reports. (I may have to go down that crazy road and do the rest of the forces in this old battle report now).

Till the next adventure whether it is a Fantasy army or a Rogue force I will see you all in the next OWAC.

While we pass the time to the next OWAC do not disappoint the Squirrel of Judgment for he can be a harsh little bugger.

May we get what we want,

May we get what we need,

But may we never get

what we deserve!
