  • My Life and Times

I was born in 1939 BC.
    That’s ‘Before Computers’.

Luckily I survived the following events in my life, such as

World War II, The London Blitz, Rationing, and worst of all… Archbishop Temple’s School.

During the mid 1950s I was enjoying Rock ‘n’ Roll and being a first generation teenager, when suddenly, just like Elvis, I found myself in uniform during ‘The Cold War’…and then

I became ‘a family’. Which meant that I sort of missed the ‘swinging sixties’, but still managed to look a complete prat in the 70s, just like everyone else.

During the ‘Thatcher Years’ I lost my hair and a lot of people lost a good deal more. My career fluctuated to say the least as I was demoted, promoted, fired and hired a number of times, but still I managed to stagger on into a welcome retirement and to celebrate 60 years of happy marriage.

What a day ! .. What a day !

Posted by Big John on June 1, 2022

Yes ! .. The ‘Platinum Jubilee’ has arrived at last, and I am so excited, just like all of ‘er Maj’s other subjects who ‘worship’ those wonderful ‘royals’, which includes that so private pair, who have come here all the way from California, and the Archbishop’s best mate, if his royal mummy allows him on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Unfortunately, I’m a bit too old now to spend the night outside the palace with all those royal fanatics, or attend one of those wonderful street parties with all my favourite neighbours. However, I have decorated my house with large flags, red, white and blue bunting and a huge picture of ‘er Maj.

Oh! and before I forget, I have treated myself to a ‘jubilee pizza‘ and a bottle or two of ‘jubilee beer’ to be enjoyed while spending the day watching TV and toasting the Royal Family .. and ..

.. “If you believe that, then you will believe anything” !
