In distributed software development project, specification documents and source codes are often k... more In distributed software development project, specification documents and source codes are often kept and maintained under the developers in a different place. These situations will disturb the collaboration between the developers. Recently, CVS and Wiki are often used to improve such situations. But in Wiki, because everyone can freely edit the page, wrong edit by someone might cause serious troubles. Moreover, because Wiki and CVS are operated independently, developers must maintain documents and codes separately. To solve these problems, we propose a Weblog based integrated collaboration infrastructure to support distributed software development project.

Then this apple is more or less ripe.' L.A. Zadeh and E.H. Mamdani suggested methods for such a fuzzy reasoning as an application of fuzzy set theory. The method involves an inference rule and a conditional proposition which contains fuzzy concepts. In this paper we point out that the consequence inferred by their methods does not always fit our intuitions and we suggest the improved methods which fit our intuitions under several criteria.

LI... more Ab~tact-LIFE FEShell is a fuzzy expert system shell that handles several kinds of uncertainty. LIFE FEShell is based on fuzzy logic, possibility theory, fuzzy measures and the fuzzy integral and is constructed in four parts: Fuzzy Production System (FPS), Fuzzy Frame System (FFS), FPS Object Editor (FPOE), and Fuzzy Frame Editor (FFE). We are now developing a few expert systems on LIFE FEShell to study and solve problems that are likely to arise during the implementation of these systems. In this paper, we present an analysis of uncertainty in the flame system and show details of the LIFE FEShell Fuzzy Frame System and its handling of uncertainty. LIFE FEShell FFS allows linguistic representations in data and evaluation functions and handles its hierarchical definitions to accommodate their linguistic polysemy. Data may be set not only with crisp values, but also using possibility distributions as slot values, data grades, and link grades.

The feature of ill-defined problems is that they cannot be described by a mathematical model. Thi... more The feature of ill-defined problems is that they cannot be described by a mathematical model. This type of problem has only qualitative relations between state variables. When we evaluate state variables of the object system, we have to evaluate the body of related state variables. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a new evaluation and decision method based on possibility-valued fuzzy integral. In our method, scenarios are represented by fuzzy propositions in which subjects are state variables. The values of state variables are described by a possibility distribution. Using the extension principle, the possibility-valued fuzzy integral (Choquet Integral) can represent the evaluation of the scenarios and the status of the object system. As the results of ranking the evaluation values (possibility-valued), we decide to choose the most suitable scenarios. The foreign exchange transaction system was chosen to provide a practical example. It is a typical ill defined problem. The structure of our system is comprised of three parts: a group of states, scenario evaluation and a generator of states. This system has two types of input: numerical data (e. g., economic index) and text data (e.g., news, speech of VIP, etc.). A state includes a level that represents the economic status (e.g., US interest is high) by a possibility distribution. Moreover, evaluation based on the fuzzy integral is proposed for scenario evaluation. This integral value can be integrated as a total evaluation of a scenario, the fuzzy measure as a subjective weighting and the integrand as a degree of matching between the level and a proposition in a scenario. As a result, information of increased importance is now suggested. In this paper, we have built the new decision method based on fuzzy theory. We can say that this method is very useful for many ill-defined problems.

In this paper, we propose an alternative method for interactive assessment of a utility function ... more In this paper, we propose an alternative method for interactive assessment of a utility function when this function is represented by a fuzzy integral. It is generally agreed that the fuzzy integral provides a good representation of the human subjective structure. However, this type of integral may not be convenient because the assessment of the underlying fuzzy measure requires a lot of data. In this paper we adopt an alternative point of view for determining the values of the fuzzy measure from few data by interactively changing equation constraints. Our method will contribute to increasing the applicability of the fuzzy measure and of the fuzzy integral in the field of decision support systems.

Fuzzy relational algebra for possibility-distribution-fuzzy-relational model of fuzzy data

In the real world, there exist a lot of fuzzy data which cannot or need not be precisely defined.... more In the real world, there exist a lot of fuzzy data which cannot or need not be precisely defined. We distinguish two types of fuzziness: one in an attribute value itself and the other in an association of them. For such fuzzy data, we propose a possibility-distribution-fuzzy-relational model, in which fuzzy data are represented by fuzzy relations whose grades of membership and attribute values are possibility distributions. In this model, the former fuzziness is represented by a possibility distribution and the latter by a grade of membership. Relational algebra for the ordinary relational database as defined by Codd includes the traditional set operations and the special relational operations. These operations are classified into the primitive operations, namely, union, difference, extended Cartesian product, selection and projection, and the additional operations, namely, intersection, join, and division. We define the relational algebra for the possibility-distribution-fuzzy-relational model of fuzzy databases.
