Let’s get in touch!
Hey there! Thank you for stopping by. I’m Oindrila, an Indian scientist–storyteller living in the USA, originally from Durgapur, an industrial city in West Bengal.
As a child, I grew up on two kinds of stories: my grandfather’s life as an artist and my great-grandfather’s work pioneering applied physics at Rajabazar Science College, Kolkata. I was inspired by both science and art, often confused about my true identity- until I realized I did not have to choose one! I could make science visible through stories and illustrations inspired by the living world!
I am an Environmental Scientist/ Chemist studying the hidden journeys of pollutants through nature and living organisms. This journey of pollutants is an important link between environmental pollution and health concerns. As a storyteller, I am passionate about the need to communicate about the science of the environment and its people.
Communicating stories through writing and art helps me push boundaries beyond the walls of academia and keeps me focus on consistency, perseverance and honing my creative skills as a science writer/ illustrator.
Welcome to my world of imperfection, and happy exploring. :)
