Apparently the UK govt. isn't interested in preserving Bletchly Park, where code breakers such as Alan Turing cracked codes during WWII, turning the tide towards the allies... It's not considered worth lottery funding either. Dad	[Jun. 12th, 2008\|11:15 pm] Occular
(I should have updated my lj much sooner with this news, sorry!) On Sat 7th June, my dad passed away peacefully after a long (4 year) illness. At the end he stayed at the Marie Cure Centre in Newcastle, who gave him much better care than he could receive at home. Following are the details of my dad's funeral for anyone interested in attending. The funeral of David Hunsley will be held at the West Road Crematorium, Newcastle Upon Tyne, on Friday 13th June at 10.45am. Flowers from family only please, non-family please consider making a donation to the Marie Curie Centre. A retiring collection will be held in aid of the Marie Curie Centre at the cremation. West Road Crematorium There will be a wake held at the Mariott Hotel in Gosforth Park, starting 12.30pm. Marriot Hotel Thanks to everyone for sending best wishes and their support, it's appreciated!

E102 in medication	[Dec. 21st, 2007\|01:53 am] Occular
I am taking some antibiotic medication. The pills have the notorious additive E102 (akak Tartrazine) in them. For solely the purpose of making the pills look yellow. Ok, adding this to random foodstuffs I could understand. But a medicine? Something a doctor will prescribe, and tell a patient to consume, for a very good and specific reason? What is the reasoning behind putting a colouring in a prescribed medicine? "Oh, the doctor might not prescribe the medication if it's not the right colour". "Ooh, the patient might refuse to take their pills if they're not yellow." Both completely twitty reasons. So why?

She's not even a member of Yaari so presumably a friend of hers put their facebook login into Yaari, which then plundered their address book and faked invites from people in the address book. Nooooo....
