An hour after Gov. Chris Christie vetoed a bill that would have provided $10 million for bridge repairs and flood mitigation in Garfield, the governor announced he was sending his lieutenant into the belly of the beast.

Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno is scheduled to preside over the swearing in of the Garfield Township Council Sunday.

To be fair, the flooding problem begins in Garfield but its effects are felt more heavily in other Bergen County townships.  The LG just better hope the Garfield Council doesn’t send her to Marcellus Street to pick up doughnuts for the inauguration.
