Insecurity is a reproach to a nation as peace is essential to the survival and harmonious co-existence of all creatures. It could not be attained unless there is justice and control. The Nigerian society needs genuine peace but it is unattainable unless injustice is uprooted from the surface of the earth. Hence, peace education is crucial for the Nigeria survival. This paper explored the prospects of peace education as a unifying factor in a multicultural, multiethnic and multireligiuos society like Nigeria and clarified some concepts of peace education in relation to hydra-headed but intractable ethnic, economic and religious crisis in the country. Also, the paper reviewed challenges peace education could confront and highlight several elements that can foster peace education in Nigeria. It was recommended that justice is essential for genuine peace to reign in the country as peace is imperative to the survival and harmonious co-existence of all Nigerians.

Given the continuing economic difficulties facing Nigeria, the need for Nigerian Higher Education Institutions to stimulate and support entrepreneurial development, economic renewal and growth, has never been more pressing. Adopting a descriptive survey design, stratified random and simple random sampling techniques were employed in choosing a sample of 498 graduate apprentices and used for the study from the five skills acquisition training centres in Jigawa State, Nigeria. The instrument used was a questionnaire, which measured respondents’ ratings of job-relevant skills and elicited suggestions for improving career skills among graduate apprentices. Data were analyzed using One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Multiple Correlation and Stepwise Multiple Regression statistics at 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that practical orientation, extra-curricular activities, business idea generation, business planning, venture creation, networking events, enterprise skills developments significantly combine to influence employability of graduate apprentices. However, a non-significant difference existed in the entrepreneurial abilities to create new ventures amongst graduate apprentices. It was concluded that Higher Education Institutions should intensify efforts to equip students with skills and entrepreneurial training so that they would be job creators instead of job seekers. It is imperative for graduates to learn and continuously update their skills to make them work-ready.
