snow may change schedule

Just a heads up about Sunday's game against the Vikings:

MINNEAPOLIS -- The New York Giants will spend Saturday night in Kansas City after failing to get to Minnesota in advance of their Sunday game against the Vikings.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Sunday's game is still scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET. The Giants will catch an 8 a.m. flight on Sunday morning.

With about a foot of blowing snow falling in the Twin Cities area the airport closed Saturday afternoon. The Giants' charter flight was forced to land in Kansas City. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said on Twitter the team will spend the night there.

"We continue to closely monitor the weather in Minneapolis and remain in regular contact with both clubs and local public safety authorities," Aiello said in a statement. "We will continue to do so and are prepared to make adjustments in the schedule as necessary. The Giants are spending the night in Kansas City and plan to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Because the flight is less than one hour, the game could begin as scheduled at noon CT.

"If conditions in Minneapolis dictate otherwise, we will move the kickoff to later in the day and announce it as soon as we have the information. We will pay close attention to local conditions and be mindful of issues of fan safety and convenience in making the final scheduling decision."
