snow may change schedule [11 Dec 2010|07:42pm]

Just a heads up about Sunday's game against the Vikings:

MINNEAPOLIS -- The New York Giants will spend Saturday night in Kansas City after failing to get to Minnesota in advance of their Sunday game against the Vikings.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Sunday's game is still scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET. The Giants will catch an 8 a.m. flight on Sunday morning.

With about a foot of blowing snow falling in the Twin Cities area the airport closed Saturday afternoon. The Giants' charter flight was forced to land in Kansas City. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said on Twitter the team will spend the night there.

"We continue to closely monitor the weather in Minneapolis and remain in regular contact with both clubs and local public safety authorities," Aiello said in a statement. "We will continue to do so and are prepared to make adjustments in the schedule as necessary. The Giants are spending the night in Kansas City and plan to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Because the flight is less than one hour, the game could begin as scheduled at noon CT.

"If conditions in Minneapolis dictate otherwise, we will move the kickoff to later in the day and announce it as soon as we have the information. We will pay close attention to local conditions and be mindful of issues of fan safety and convenience in making the final scheduling decision."

I'm glad the Giants won... [17 Oct 2010|04:45pm]

But I could barely see the ball. Apparently, there is some sort of legal disagreement between my cable company and Fox. So I couldn't watch it in high definition on my local Fox channel. Luckily, I live outside NYC, so I was able to watch it on another channel, but the picture quality was horrible. It was much worse than regular standard definition. The screen was all jumpy and blurry with all kinds of weird artifacts. My cable bill is high enough that shouldn't have to put up with this bullshit.

Anyway, why do we keep passing on third and short?

Is anyone watching the game on Fox right now? Not sure if it's just me/my cable reception but there is something very off with the camerawork. Is it filmed in 3-D or something? I can't even explain what's "wrong" but there is just a slightly weird speed to it and an image issue. The commercials are fine so it's not my Fox channel nor my cable reception. I can only think it's related to how it's filmed?

Never mind. It just sucks that I still have a standard def TV. :/

Gridiron Preview: New York Giants [18 Aug 2010|01:18pm]

allmediany

T
he Giants started the season 5-0, looking like one of the league’s top teams. But all of these factors eventually led to the defense’s collapse, and they gave up at least 20 points in all but one of their final 11 games.  This included giving up 40+ points in three of their final four games, cementing their fall from championship contender to an 8-8 finish.

injuries already? [17 Aug 2010|01:24pm]

I don't put much the stock in pre-season, but this has me a bit concerned:

Players who didn't suit up for the game included guards Chris Snee (knee) and Rich Seubert (hand), wide receivers Steve Smith (groin), Sinorice Moss (groin) and Tim Brown (leg), cornerback Corey Webster (glute), safeties Kenny Phillips (knee) and Michael Johnson (back), linebacker Keith Bulluck (knee), tight ends Kevin Boss, Travis Beckum and Jake Ballard (all hamstrings), plus offensive lineman Kevin Boothe, who is on the physically unable to perform list recovering from surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

And is that even a complete list?

There is one giants fan that has seen too much of this defense. So he wrote this open letter. I hope you all enjoy it. It's funny and yet true.

While I'm feeling better now, yesterday was the first time I missed a game in years. I checked http://www.giants.com/gameday/schedule.html and it read:

"Sunday, 11/1 4:15 PM ET FOX @ Philadelphia"

Which seemed pretty clear to me, but when I tuned in at around 4 PM, the game was almost over.

As you might have heard, Michael Vick was released from prison, and the Atlanta Falcons, and was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a back-up quarterback to canned-soup aficionado Donavan McNabb.

Today, he held a press conference. And it's always great to hear from one of the world's leading intellectuals. Among his thoughts, he shared how torturing and killing dogs was wrong. He also announced, "You only get one shot at a second chance". That's deep. Clearly, this man is like Yoda, Deepak Chopra, and Doug Flutie, rolled into one.

Despite the number of followers, does anyone know if THIS is actually Eli. The tweets seem awfully simple. Suspended. Not surprised. There's another one (thanks to hipsandcars), which looks good but has a very small number of followers. I think I'll wait to see a link on an official Giants site before following this one.

Bye Bye Plaxico [03 Apr 2009|05:00pm]

thelite88
Today, the New York Giants have released Plaxico Burress. Click here for the link to the story.

Options for the Giants to replace Plaxico

  • A trade for Braylon Edwards (Browns) or a trade for Anquan Boldin (Cardinals).

  • The best WR's in the free agent market is Torry Holt and Marvin Harrison.

  • The last option is the draft and the Giants are slated to pick 29th.

This has been a fun day.
