Taiwan economic development is a fusion of Dechnology (Design-Technology) and Humart (Humanity-Art) which is also a process of design evolution showing an " Adaptive Design " in Taiwan design development. Therefore, this study proposes a design conceptual approach not only for Taipei to meet the requirements of WDC 2016, but also for Taiwan to establish a design strategy for the future. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to provide designers, companies, organizations as well as Taipei City with an approach for applying design thinking and with an idea for how to direct their efforts to meet the requirements of a new proposed design strategy.

In the design field, the effort of preserving culture tends to put culture as a design element instead of the sustainability of its community. Indeed to preserve culture a fair action should be taken in both sides of the cultural product and cultural actor/inheritors because, without the existence of the community, the cultural product would not exist. This study will present a technical process of those fair action by implementing a research model of FGHIJ which stands for Fairness, Gain Humanity, Impact, and Joy as a framework to explore the culture fairly. For a better understanding in a practical level, the Malangan mask culture will become a case study in this study as a real case. Using a qualitative descriptive method this studies found that there is a huge possibili...

The project has been proceed for three years, each stage are focused on different age students. The range of growth change in school is variety. The traditional desk and chairs are not able to fit all students in different body figure. How to achieve the requirement of students for different body situation is the major consideration in this study. The procedures adopted for the assessment included the current school furniture survey, a design analysis and a subjective comfort evaluation. Then, the result of study focuses on the application of an anthropometric survey of school in Taiwan. Finally, bases on the anthropometric database, the anthropometric consideration of school furniture are suggested for designi...

Despite service design’s recognized importance, cultural and creative industries lack a systematic approach to it. Therefore, based on the “Taiwan experience”, this paper proposes a service innovation design model and provides examples illustrating

However, successful application of universal design requires an understanding of human performance. Ergonomic considerations are a part of "universal design" and should be taken into account by manufacturing engineers in product development. An experiment was designed to compare the differences between reading an E-book and a conventional book (C-book) with objective measures. Twenty junior college students, ages sixteen to eighteen, participated in the study. Response measures included reading performance and critical flicker fusion (CFF). The results indicate that reading an E-book causes significantly higher eye fatigue than reading a C-book. Reading a C-book generated a higher level of reading performance than reading an E-book. In addition, females demonstrated better reading performance than males in reading either book.

The present study intends to help designers to choose a proper design style for the icon at an early design stage. First, three distinguishing visual features of an object are identified for the icon design. Then, 30 icons from drawing packages and generally used symbols are selected, and a matching test is conducted to obtain the correct matching rates. Finally, the results are presented with some explanations for the icon recognition and confusion, and methods of selecting the right design style for the icon design are discussed.
