Preserving endangered language is one of the challenging tasks for the governments of the world. ... more Preserving endangered language is one of the challenging tasks for the governments of the world. Day by day endangered languages are declining from the world due to various reasons. In the context of Nepal, some of the endangered languages are going to loss with changing socio economic and cultural situation. The study focused on language preservation practices of Nepal in term of legal and constitutional provisions and its implication. Policy formulation is not only sufficient for preserving endangered languages because implementation mechanisms cannot effectively function in developing and under developed nation like Nepal. The study followed qualitative research design and analyzed the issue related to language preservation policy and practices. By analyzing both primary and secondary data collected from different sources showed that language preservation practice cannot properly function in Nepal due to lack of resources, commitment of authority and influenced of global and national language.

Cultural, ritual, and religious practices of the Chepang are based on shamanism. The shaman of th... more Cultural, ritual, and religious practices of the Chepang are based on shamanism. The shaman of the chepang is known as pande. The main purpose of this study is to analyze how pandes perform therapeutic roles in their community, why these roles are important to maintain indigenous Chepang culture, and what are the threats faced by pandes in modern times. The study follows the qualitative method of research and analyzes the roles of pandes performed in society for which both primary and secondary data are used. Primary information for this study was collected from the pandes of Kalika Municipality Wards 10 and 11, and books, journals, and other published and unpublished materials about the topic were used as secondary sources of data for this study. Richard Schechner theory of ritual performance also uses as theoretical guideline of the study and compare pandes' acts as a ritualistic and cultural performance. The pandes perform various roles and responsibilities to fulfill cultural, ritual and religious demands of the Chepang and preserve their culture, ritual myth, history, oral literature and traditional belief that has been practiced in the Chepang community for a long time. Findings and conclusion of the study are based on the data analysis and description. The roles of pandes are omnipotent in the community. Their role is not only limited to cultural festivities and ritual ceremonies but also their roles as therapists, fortune tellers, and experts in flora and fauna. Thus, the performance of the Pandes is important to maintain the traditional identities of the Chepang living in Nepal.

In this context the study focuses on how Prema is being victim of globalization and migrations and what are problems she faced in her life. Qualitative research design was followed and analyzed the issue with textual evidence. Conclusion has been made on the basis of textual analysis. Through analysis it is proved that Prema wants to be a rich and prestigious personality but she could not be happy in life because she could not feel enjoy in her life.

Tree tales are popular in Nepal both ethnic and non-ethic community. Tree tales are popular among the Chepang because some of the trees are appeared as cultural icons which play significant role in the formation of their culture. The main concern of the paper goes how do tree tales reflects the cultural values of the Chepang and why tree tales are Important on the Chepang culture. More than that, the study briefly analyzes the value of tree tales among the Chepang. The study is based on closed reading of the selected tales and analyzed the tales on the basis of objectives. There has been remained long debate and controversy about the conversion of Magar from their primitive belief to Hinduism. The paper tries to seek the situation of conversion among Magar living in Nepal. The study also concentrates on how, when and why they are compelled to change their traditional religion or belief and follow new one. To search the answer of these questions, the study followed qualitative research design and analyzes the data when, why and how Magar followed Hinduism in my study area. Both primary and secondary data were used in this study; however, the conclusion of the study has been made on the basis of primary data. On the basis of data analysis and presentation it can be said that Magars change their belief not only single cause and various causes and consequences play role to shift from one belief to next.

Translation is the process of conveying message from one language community to another language c... more Translation is the process of conveying message from one language community to another language community. Sounds, symbols, gestures can be used to transmit information from one language community to others. Bhatia (1992) defines translation as "the communication of the meaning of a source-language text by means of an equivalent target-language text" (p.1051). The main objective of translation is to convey message from one language to other languages. To this end, certain techniques can be used, which, according to Bell (1991), “borrowing, loan translation, literal translation, transposition, modulation, equivalence and adaptation” (p.70).
