War Graves and Ancestors

mylodon has an excellent article just posted about a war graves site near to where she lives and I have added a comment noticing that several commentators talk about family members who were in Commonwealth forces.

So I thought just a short post about a potential source of help might interest some people as a follow up to that .

Just wearing a hat as a member of the Society of Genealogist's Advice team to say that we run a free telephone helpline ( well free apart from whatever a call to London would cost you and I realise that for some people in the world the Thuesday time is a peak time though hopefully the Saturday is not )
every Thursday evening 6-7.45 and every Saturday morning 11-1 and afternoon 2- 4 .

There are a varied team and between us we try to offer advice on all kinds of issues in traicng your ancestors and if we don't know we can put you in contact with experts in various fields ( including Naval history !).If you happen to ring today you will get me - but the whole team is friendly and we like to help. We often take email addresses and get back in touch if we have bright ideas later.

The number to call is 020 7490 8911 and this will go straight to the volunteer on duty.
The society also does drop in advice sessions on Saturday mornings if you are ever in London or visiting there.

The website is www.sog.org.uk
