A world without leprosy and its consequences

NLR works until No Leprosy Remains. Through treatment, prevention and stigma reduction NLR strives for the elimination of leprosy by 2040.

We are NLR

NLR is an alliance of four NGOs in India, Indonesia, Brazil,
(where 80% of leprosy patients live) and the Netherlands.

In addition we strongly collaborate with our Associate members:
NLR Moçambique, NLR Nepal and LTR Nigeria.

The international office in the Netherlands supports the alliance with knowledge, funding and leading large multi-country (research) projects.

What we achieved in 2024

The past year can be characterized by progress and adaptiveness, major project successes, but also some challenges and disruption. A year where our resilience as an international NGO is tested without losing sight of our mission: a world without leprosy. We invite you to view our results in 2024.

Brazil

NHR Brasil is an alliance member where we conduct groundbreaking research to find a new enhanced regimen (PEP++) to prevent leprosy transmission.

India

NLR is an alliance member where we conduct groundbreaking research to find a new enhanced regimen (PEP++) to prevent leprosy transmission.

Indonesia

NLR Indonesia is pioneering chemoprophylaxis pilots in five different locations, which serve as a model for similar projects in the rest of the world.

the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, Leprastichting, is an alliance member where the primary focus is on fundraising for persons affected by leprosy. From the international office in Amsterdam we support the alliance with fundraising, medical-technical knowledge and advocacy.

Nigeria

LTR Nigeria is an associate member within the NLR alliance. In close collaboration with their team we succesfully implemented the Ready4PEP project

Mozambique

In Mozambique we run two main projects through NLR Moçambique, an associate member within the NLR alliance:

Nepal

NLR Nepal is an associate member within the NLR alliance where we conduct groundbreaking research to find a new enhanced regimen (PEP++) to prevent leprosy transmission.

Ethiopia

In Ethiopia we compare the effectiveness and feasibility of a skin camp intervention to a health centre-based intervention for the implementation of preventive medication (SDR-PEP)

Tanzania

In Ethiopia we compare the effectiveness and feasibility of a skin camp intervention to a health centre-based intervention for the implementation of preventive medication (SDR-PEP)

Bangladesh

In close collaboration with our partners from The Leprosy Mission International (TLMI) and The Leprosy Mission Bangladesh we conduct groundbreaking research to find a new enhanced regimen (PEP++) to prevent leprosy transmission.
