But this global village has no characteristics of traditional villages except proximity. It would, indeed, be more appropriate to name it global materialist capitalist village with the dominance of big and small businessmen or businesswomen and investment giants. The meteoric speed of this global materialistic-capitalist village has engulfed almost every field in its fold. The only challenge appears to be faith, spirituality and religion to which it is giving serious jolts over and over again. But the challenge stands unperturbed, unharmed and unshakeable before the capitalistic-materialistic onslaughts. This article briefly discusses the present capitalist culture and the challenges which it poses before humanity. It also attempts to cover the need for reconciling conflicting zones for a better future and a better world.

New financial procedures and interests have multiplied in the current trade and investment matrix. Developing countries are now rightfully taking a much greater share in global production, trade and investment. However, their level of participation in the dispute settlement system is an important aspect of academic inquiry. There are several reasons for inadequate participation of developing countries but lack of trust is at the heart of the entire debate. Division amongst the developing countries placed them in more vulnerable position. This paper focuses on reasons for poor participation of some of the developing countries in the dispute settlement understanding (DSU), problems of developing and least developed countries and points out some measures for bringing required equilibrium in the dispute settlement system so that it could be made just, fair...

The rising opportunity of earning and easy accessibility of modern markets has given meteoric pace to production and consumption. The modern day scientific and technological advancements have further intensified consumerism. But these developments have also provided greater space for financial deceptions and fraudulent transactions. In most simple terms, a seller sells a product to a buyer, the buyer finds the product not to be up to his satisfaction, some would say it is a mere co-incidence but is it so? In the absence of definitive statistics, the instinct of a consumer living in a capitalist society would lead one to wonder if the seller intentionally did or did not do something that led to a compromised consumer satisfaction. The need for the protection of the rights of the consumer also demands greater concern of the policy makers, quasi- judicial bodies and non- governmental organisations in this new age of commercialisation. This paper focuses on the statutory protection provided to the consumers in India, consumer services, penalties and issues of fairness and transparency.

The Von Bertalanffy growth parameters L∞and K for the species were 45.05 cm and 1.30/year, respectively. The annual rate of natural mortality (M) and fishing mortality (F) were found to be 1.86 and 2.58, respectively. The estimated value of the exploitation rate (E) using the lengthconverted catch curve was 0.58 and E max was found to be 0.582. The recruitment pattern of this species was continuous and two peaks per year. The present investigation clearly showed the over fishing (E > 0.50) condition for H. nehereus in Bangladesh. The estimated length-weight relationship for the combined sex was found to be W = 0.003199 L3.Bangladesh J. Zool. 45(2): 101-110, 2017
