rural electrification where electrification from main grid is
difficult and uneconomical. Hybrid system can be a combination
of several renewable sources such as Solar Photovoltaic, Wind,
Micro-Hydro etc. For cost effective energy production, optimal
sizing of the Energy components is needed. This paper discusses
the Optimal sizing of Energy components of a Hybrid Micro-grid
for a remotely located area. NREL developed HOMER Micropower
Optimization Model is used for the optimal sizing.
HOMER displays the possible combinations in the order of Life
cycle cost, out of which the most optimal combination includes
Wind-Hydro-DG-Battery system.
