Nightlab is a nonprofit organization that advances nighttime placemaking through light-based art. We light bridges, produce the Portland Winter Light Festival, and utilize art, community and infrastructure to enhance Portland’s nighttime identity.

Willamette Light Brigade is now Nightlab

After months of reflection, collaboration and creative exploration, we’re excited to share a new name and identity for our organization. Willamette Light Brigade is now Nightlab.

This new name reflects who we are today: an organization advancing nighttime placemaking through light-based art.

The Call for Participation is now open

While Portland prepares to soak up summer sunshine, plans are underway to brighten the darkest days of winter. The Portland Winter Light Festival invites artists, performers, designers, architects and community groups to submit proposals for the 2027 Festival.
