Hi, I’m Nick & I build networks.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

As a kid I was given an old rotary phone to play with and ended up creating my own mini exchange out of scrounged components. While my soldering iron burns have healed, my love of the tech hasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

These days I run Omnitouch<\/a>, where I’m joined by a bunch of super talented folks to build cellular networks in places others are too stupid to try and solve all the problems of the telecom world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So this blog focuses on telecommunications network engineering, from the very old<\/a>, to very new and everything in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The page first started in 2009, and has had several refreshes since, but based on the premise that if I write something down, I remember it. The act of writing things down makes it stick in my head, and having to explain it highlights any gaps in my knowledge of the subject I’m writing about. There are a lot of gaps…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These days most posts fall into one of two categories, fixed voice networks (VoIP \/ SIP) <\/a>or mobile networks (GSM\/LTE\/LTE\/5G\/NR)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of my writings here detail working with open source software like Kamailio<\/a>, Open5Gs<\/a>, Python<\/a>, FreeSWITCH<\/a>, Asterisk<\/a>, Osmocom<\/a>, etc, to give something back to these communities where possible and so the posts are accessible to anyone building networks, regardless of size & budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that’s what this website is & who I am. Hopefully it’s of some use to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
