Damn you North Carolina!!!!
So... Amendment 1 passed yesterday in NC which now defines marriage as between one man and one woman on the NC State Constitution. When will the people of my OWN country have the freedom we CLAIM to love and stand for yet they keep sending people like me to foreign countries to fight for THEIR freedom? o_O I'm so BEYOND pissed. Now... it's now that I'm truly surprised that it passed, we are in the middle of the "Bible Belt" and if Prop 8 can be passed in CA... what chance did NC really have. I am, however, once again disappointed in people. I wonder sometimes how I can be an anthropologist and DISLIKE PEOPLE as much as I do... then I remember that I'm going into forensic anthropology to work with the dead ones...
ALSO... I am, if possible, even MORE frustrated over the lack of voter turn-out. If I heard correctly, the turn-out was only about 25%! It was not THAT LONG AGO people that approximately 75% of the entire population wasn't even legally ALLOWED to vote!!!! Why the hell did we fight so hard for the right to vote if we aren't going to take advantage of it!?!?!?!
