I've decided that it's time to post something from an email I sent. The scenario is this: the guy who was our speaker at camp last summer is a friend of mine on facebook. After a particularly intense discussion about GLBT rights, he made a comment that.. well it was too much. I have a large *large* number of friends who are gay and who are Christian, and to have them compared to child molesters and serial killers on my wall was... horrifying.

The following is a letter that I wrote him in response to a standard 'I'm worried about your soul/interpretation' email that I received from him. His name will only be referenced as A from now on. I may edit a little for clarity, but for the most part this is a direct response to him.

This got long and yet.

I don't know where I stand with my thoughts half the time any more, with God and Christianity. But i believe in love, and all of this still feels very relevant to me.

I hope someone gets something out of it - I never heard back from A.
