The need of integration of curriculum is a frequently felt need over the times but has never been... more The need of integration of curriculum is a frequently felt need over the times but has never been able to take up due attention by the curriculum planners while planning the curriculum on account of the vastness of approach, its difficult operational modalities and opposing view by groups who advocate the supremacy of academic excellence through specializations in specific subjects over integration of subjects. Many a times the timing of introducing integration is questioned by the traditionalist academicians who argue that integration sometimes do more harm than good. Obviously, it is a superficial argument by them as they know curriculum integration is not an easy process but requires an extra edge with the curriculum practitioners. It is never too late to introduce integration, sooner the better. The best thing about integration is that it can begin at any level of education. Its' proper planning, implementation and execution can never go wrong provided the intent of the knowledge provider remains honest, pious and focused. When it comes to science education the application of integration is an inevitable need. A learner begins to enjoy science learning whenever he/she visualizes the connecting links between the concepts and feels the very integral nature of science in its totality. The present article is an attempt to justify the need of integration in curriculum, especially in the discipline of science. There can be many parallel existing competitive arguments which can establish the need of introducing integration into curriculum to deliver the knowledge to the learners in its most complete form and in a more psychological way. Knowledge knows no boundaries; taking this basal thought the author want to highlight the benefits one gets out of integrated approach of learning over fragmented approach of learning. Also an attempt has been made to plan a lesson of biology in an integrated approach.

By affective we refer to the one"s affect such as emotions, feelings, moods and attitudes associated with various actions one perform. The trait of scientific temper is affective in nature because its manifestation involves a constant conversation with one"s self. One"s temper is very much influenced by his/her dominant feelings, likes and dislikes and emotional inclination. Scientific temper is defined as a frame of mind that accepts truth in its real form without subjecting it to any kind of influence. It is observed that some individuals possess a high degree of scientific temper and some are relatively less scientifically tempered. In both the categories it holds a direct bearing to their understanding of NOS. NOS is a misinterpreted concept in school science that leads to misconceptions about science within students which persists in their later lives also. It is a varying thought process as different individuals seem to place themselves in different positions in their perceptions about NOS. A better understanding of NOS in an individual helps him/her to relate science more meaningfully in their lives. Thus the perception of NOS seems to have an impact on the trait of scientific temper. Scientific temper enables a person in making unbiased judgments and informed decisions. It holds a great significance in the decision-making process of an individual in day to day affairs. It can be said in a nutshell that societies preaching the real nature of science through the process of schooling seems to be more scientifically tempered in their outlook. However, the trait of scientific temper is operational in both scientific and non-scientific setting. In fact being scientifically tempered in our social settings has a high return value in terms of combating with various social problems.

Planning is both an art and science. It comprises of minute detailing of stages which makes it an art and since it is a goal-oriented activity so it needs systematic of science. Planning of lesson is an intelligent practice which gets more and more nearer to perfection as a matter of practice. Content mastery is of course a prime requisite for good teaching but to plan well needs more than that. It is the dedication of teachers that makes good plan. Every practical attempt of planning a lesson is a new opportunity to see the subject matter coming alive through a new dimension and also integrating newer concepts which strengthen the fundamental understanding of both the teacher and the taught. The new knowledge society has fixed limits of space and time in achieving instructional objectives inside classroom. This constrain is very well taken care by lesson planning. Lesson Planning: an Art as well as Science What is a Lesson Plan? A lesson is an organized set of activities designed to present one manageable-sized piece of your course (BCIT Learning and Teaching Centre, 2010). In terms of a plan it comprises of a sequence of events meant to be transacted in teaching learning situation with an intention to achieve desirable learning outcome in the learners which are assessed on behavioral terms. A lesson plan is essential for novice teaches and convenient for experienced teachers (Jensen, 2001). A plan of lesson makes things in place, provides a structure or mental scheme and also boosts confidence within the teacher before entering the classroom. A lesson delivered without a plan and no preparation is often a hopeless event, none of the good teachers henceforth are comfortable with idea of going to the class without any plan. A plan of lesson can be on daily to weekly basis. There can be plan on a topic or plan for a unit, the unit plan. A lesson plan varies between a range which sometimes can be a simple snapshot of events schemed with a sequence in the teacher's mind and sometime it turns out to be a detailed account of every step to be followed in the classroom. It depends on teachers' choice for the day, group to be taught, autonomy on the part of teacher, time-space constraints and most importantly the status of the teacher between being novice or experienced. By the way lesson planning is a fruitful activity whether some teachers like it or not.

Often the best-trained professional personnel fail to deliver the quality that a minimally qualified experienced teacher is capable of. When a teacher masters a subject it does not mean he or she has a complete command over it; rather, it is the art of the teacher knowing and understanding the learners that matters the most in the majority of circumstances. The key to such teachers' success is their humane, compassionate, and empathetic nature. Thus, teacher training programmes should primarily focus on developing this element within every prospective teacher as it can be the best way to improve the achievements of learners in any kind of educational setting. Teachers who have high emotional intelligence are the ones who work in the persuasion of " self-actualisation " and hold greater " social responsibility. " These two important qualitative variables of a teacher's personality are very much evident in every humane teacher. They also exhibit better interpersonal relationships with students than others.

It is often being compromised on grounds of institution's lacking of an understanding of effective curriculum construction process. Curriculum development is a comprehensive process and involves the dimensions of the students, the teachers, the environment, the resources, the infrastructure and the social climate and setting. All together this in depth study is referred as Situational Analysis. Often it is seen that lack of Situational Analysis at the level of Curriculum planning can have a negative impact on its proper implementation and goal attainment. The major outcome of present educational system at Tertiary level is failing to meet the needs of current society mainly on the grounds of employability and self-reliance. There is a serious lacking of generation of skilled manpower at various levels. This holds a linkage with the type of curricular experiences one is exposed to at various levels of education.

A concept is something which helps us to define some essential attributes (properties) and non-essential attributes for a particular object or phenomenon. In the process of acquiring concepts it may happen that a new concept does not fit into the existing concepts of the learner which results in the formation of misconceptions, can also be referred as misconnects in the cognitive structure (mind) of the learner. Learning Science can be improved and enhanced by working upon these misconnects developed during the course of learning. Science is more of a verb than noun. This suggests that basic nature of the subject is doing, making and constructing physical processes out of the mental cognitive structures. Science is a culture free subject unlike other culturally loaded subjects like literature and social studies and hence Science can be taught best in stimulating environments that triggers responses contributing in development of the cognitive structures of the learners without the influence of environmental barriers, loads and hindrances. Therefore the psychological state of the mind of the learner is also vital statistic to decide for meaningful learning to take place. In Meaningful Science Learning (MSL) learners are equal participant in knowledge construction and in the process they verify the underlying hypothesis of theories many times giving it more validity. In this process they build up concepts and interlink concepts to get the clear picture perfect clarity about the underlying theory. Concepts are like the building blocks of Science Learning. The study has been done in Varanasi city of U.P.(state),India, in some limited mixed set of population of parents whose children are going to different schools (both government and private). The study helped to identify key areas of parental interests for quality education. It helped to find out the growing concern among parents towards curriculum content, quality and standards of teaching, skill and personality development and career guidance etc. The findings of the study will be helpful to educationists, teachers and educational administrators to know about the present attitude of parents towards schooling and factors responsible in their attitude development.

This study is a comparative study on variations of parents' attitude against some demographic factors which are School type, Family size, Parental education, Father's profession and Mother's professional status. It is already assumed that parents do have a particular attitude towards schooling of their which can be identified and measured in the domains of (a) Choice of school, (b) Quality of teaching, (c) Communication, (d) School functioning and (e) Future relevance of schooling. The study is further expansion of an already done study, "A Study of Parental Attitude towards schooling" Alok Gardia,Nitu Kaur The sample consists of 100 parents of school going children out of which 41 are male and 59 are female parents. Survey method is adopted for the study. A self made Attitude scale named 'Parents' Attitude Scale towards Schooling' is used in the study which is already used in the parent study. Five null hypotheses were formulated stating that there is no significant difference in attitudes of parents on the basis of the chosen demographic factors mentioned above. Parametric statistical procedure was applied to test the null hypothesis as the total score obtained on the sample population followed nearly a normal distribution with mean, median and mode of 220.85, 219 and 215 respectively. The study is done in Varanasi city of U.P. in some limited mixed set of population of parents whose children are going to different schools (both government and private). Result:-The results revealed that there is no significant difference in attitude of parents against demographic factors which are School type, Family size, Parental education, Father's profession and Mother's professional status. By this study, it can be concluded that the variables like school type, family size, parental education, father's profession and mother's professional status do not affect the attitude formation of the parents.
