Met rotem at tenshi no mado in Harajuku last month. We brought our chibichibis along, and there were a bunch of guys there (yeah, men!) hoarding the photo room with their gothic-loli girl dolls.. xD; Later the Volks employee added our little ones to the group...
(my little boys were the only boy dollies in the room... sadly for me ;p)



Oh yeah, I should probably mention I live in Japan now 8D

BEST PART: The story is still making sense!! I usually plan key scenes and other notes ahead of time, this time I was too busy fangirling on tumblr didn’t, so it added to the stress, but actually I really liked the unexpected turns the story took.

THE GOOD: After 49k, the Ianto-esque character kissed the MC “onscreen” (very briefly tho), how very Janto of them, I approve *G* I hope I played out their relationship well enough so that readers would see the kiss as natural progression and not as ‘omg, they’re gay!’ but yeah, will need a test reader.

THE BAD: This will need shitload of editing to turn into more sci-fi/fake utopia/dystopia that I intended it to be, it just feels to me like an exciting drama with a little action in a special setting… and maybe too much talking heads because as a non-native writer I’m better with dialogue than prose…

THE SAD: I realized today that someone or more of the 4 main characters and those close to them will have to be killed. I know it’s not going to be the Ianto-esque character and his boyfriend, that’s for sure! But it still makes me sad. I’ll see if I can make it more open to interpretation than outright death tho. I’ve done it before, but I’m too depressed to kill characters right now >_>

This is my slowest nano start ever. When I was working full time I got to 10k on day 3 and made it to 50k by the start of week 3. I GUESS WRITING AND FULL TIME FANGIRLING DON'T MIX AS WELL. xD

Progress by the end of week 1:

9572 / 50000 words. 19% done!

Not that bad, considering how Distracted is my middle name and Easily is my first.

++My friend read the first 3 chapters and said it was fun and definitely not boring :D I hope she's not just saying it to make me happy
-My main character still hasn't shown up
-I have not done any research and just bullshit my way through the story
-I have not done any notes or plot outline or any sort of planning like I do every year and I'm just making shit up as I go
-I get lost in rambling descriptions, this will need so much rewriting (with research too)
-+No buttsex?! Somehow this year I'm not writing porn! but the main character will be when he shows up romantically involved with the Ianto-esque character offscreen but it will hopefully be revealed with a kiss later on.(yeah, they're Janto inspired, but the MC won't be as flamboyant as CJ. um, maybe a liiiitle.)

my synopsis is posted on the nano site! and I'm going to stop procrastinating and write a bit for the next few minutes XD

oh my, haven't updated in ages... mostly due to a persistent infection in my shoulder that makes my arm hurt pretty bad, but also because I've been lazy... so the usual.

There's not a lot of anime to watch recently, but in the past few months I've done a lot of catch up to American tv shows and also fell to the evil clutches of british tv. Let's see, am currently up to date with SPN, Sherlock & Warehouse 13. total geek for Doctor Who (although I still miss David Tennant, his expressive face just done me in), and I blame mirai_may for getting me to watch everything Torchwood - I started watching for Captain Jack and now I'm scarily obsessed with Ianto Jones WHY GOD WHY and Janto... Gareth David-Lloyd is doing things to me that no actual 3D celeb has done since 2002!! I even started reading Janto fanfics, lots of them, I haven't read fanfics in over 5 years. they're that OTP ;___;
IT CRUSHED MY FUCKING SOUL BUT I LOVE THEM. I'm either cursed or a maso. T_T


I even got a tumblr just for Ianto fangirling reasons... um, feeling 20 again.



and then I look at the date and somehow it's almost November again, which mean it's Nano time! I'm gonna attempt to put fangirling on hold and try to write if my bitch infection won't bug me too much.
This year I'm going to attempt writing science fiction, a prequel to another story actually. And it will have two characters who I hope will be inspired by Jack and Ianto... *sigh*

Anyone watched 30-sai no Hoken Taiiku? I didn't think of watching it, the premise of the show is a guide for 30 yr old men to have sex and lose their virginity. But since I love ecchi crack like Ebichu, I thought it might be fun if the females aren't of the annoying type.

So I tried it! It has lots of exaggerated censoring (I wonder if they are mocking Ishihara's bill?). Basically there's this salaryman who's an otaku and a virgin... on the eve of his 30th birthday he wants to lose his virginity with an inflatable doll his colleague lent him and is stopped by none other than the God of Sex himself, who came down from heaven to help him lose his virginity. And he won't stop haunting him until it happens!

I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS!!!

So far pretty disappointed with the stuff I checked out this new anime season (3 more shows I have left to try then I'll make a post about it),
but then of course, there's Gintama to save grace this season.

I expected this to be awesome, but not THIS EPIC AWESOMENESS.

wow, it really went all out in the first episode!! At first they troll us about returning after the year break with lousy 4:3, then they switch to 16:9 and then we find out there's a 2 year timeskip and the viewers are trolled along with poor Shinpachi, who's gone as far as shedding tears of blood XD

sex change operations, crossdressing, and mostly lots of brain fuck... it was the best returning episode I have ever seen. This is the only anime that I think of as better than the manga. seriously. No one does it like Gintama does.

The team I love just won the spring koshien championship!!!! \(^O^)/
I've been getting up early for the past 2 weeks to see cute japanese high school boys play the game~(spring koshien is shorter than summer koshien so it was only 12 days)

Tokaidai Sagami were one of the teams I was rooting for in summer koshien because I saw them win the Kanagawa tournament. When they came up to play their first spring game, I realized that I really love them, and it was so different seeing them play than the other games when I felt objective and went either for those that seemed to be winning or the cuter ones XD'

I don't remember if I whined here last summer how they were so badly defeated in the summer finals (1-13, I couldn't even bear to finish watching), but it made me extremely anxious to see the final game today. Glad they played well, and won 6-1 (that 1 run they gave was in the final inning, with 2 outs and there were only 1 strike left to finish the game! aaah!)

Also worth to note, yesterday in the semi-finals, they fulfilled my dream of seeing a Grand Slam Homerun!!! TWICE!! wow!! (they won 16-2!!!)

I hope they can make it again to summer koshien and this time win it, I'll be crossing my fingers for them (and will get up early! even in the middle of the night!!) :D

Too many devastating things happening all at once. I feel so frustrated. At this world's fearful power of nature, which we can't do anything about (although I guess anywhere else it would've been far worse. Japan is amazing). Glad all my friends in Japan and their families are safe, but it's devastating to see this beautiful country in ruins.

Doing what I can to help, here's my thread @ help_japan – I will write a story for the highest bidder.





And where there's no natural disaster there's mankind's cruelty to make my heart ache. I've just seen the pictures of the Israeli children - aged 11 yrs, 4 yrs and 3-month-old, who were slaughtered in their sleep along with their parents by a palestinian terrorist on Friday night. What kind of a monster does that? There's no excuse and violence only leads to more violence and I don't want to be in this circle anymore.

The Anime Spring Preview is up!

After some very unattractive seasons, finally there's something to look forward for!

Going to watch:

GINTAMA!!!!! (so disappoint. they didn't call it Gintama Z after all!) I'm sure this will make the spring season awesome regardless of whatever other anime I'll be watching or not.
Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi - finally a new BL anime, but from experience, they only animate the crappy stuff so we shall see. What more it's from the same mangaka of Junjou Romantica and I hated it. But will give this a try anyway. Hope the characters won't be annoying ._. (AHHH JUST CHECKED THE CAST.. 3 OF MY TOP FAVORITE SEIYUU IN IT!!! dammit, now moved to will watch!)

Going to try:

Deadman Wonderland: It sounds interesting.
Sket Dance: I was told it's similar to Gintama so of course I'm on it. I love crack. I think it's also shounen jump, so I'll keep my expectations low, but Gintama is also a jump series ^^ (and Sugita is main in this one too... hmm!)
Ao no Exorcist: the protagonist looks cute, kinda like Hibari with pointy ears... It sounds interesting.


What's wrong with this list? I can't find any shows my Daisukes are in!!!! Don't they have anything in 2011?? It's a crime ;_; (or I'll patiently wait for seiyuu information >3<)

Toriko: watched the special and it was unimpressive. If it was about real food and not some dinosaurs thingies you have to kill to eat, then maybe I'd consider it (don't they know Tezuka killed the dinosaurs?) well, it's shounen jump so it's already a minus.
X-Men: can't they just stop with the american cartoons??

Pan-chan showed me on niko a video of seiyuu voice comparison from their earlier roles to more recent ones. One of those seiyuu was my 2nd favorite, Namikawa Daisuke ♥ except he was a kid in the earlier role *O* SOOOO CUUUUUUUUTE I DIEZ
I knew he was in the industry from a young age, since I saw in his credits he dubbed the kid in the Japanese dub of The Witness (1985 the one with Harrison Ford, which also had a small first role for my beloved DSG Viggo Mortensen), but didn't know he had an anime too and I really wanted to hear him as a kid!!

So anyway, I searched for the anime and luckily found a sub. It's an gundam ova called Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (as far as Gundam shows go, this one is actually interesting! And it's only 6 eps...). And NamiDai has a main role as a curious kid... and did I mention he's friggin adorable? x3

He's supposed to be 13 (1989) but sounds much younger.

Anyway, I looked for it on YT so I could post one here, but there were only dubs Dx
but spanish subs use the Japanese audio, so here you go, it's from ep 3, but Daisuke is voicing right at the start so you can only listen to the first 20 seconds if you want to hear his cuteness :D

Preface: As my manga list on MAL gets so big, I realized I don't even remember some of those I had read before, so I decided that from time to time (depending on my energy level or lack thereof) I shall post a little spotlight on a manga I've loved. I mostly read BL manga (not always, really) and most of them are sadly, crap... but since I've read so many already, I've found some good ones that I liked.
I know I have a certain taste and it's subjective, but this would be like a referral list for me so that in a few years I could check the tag and remember this title why I liked it! And maybe on the way, someone else might enjoy my picks :)

Oh yeah, I'm not going to provide any download links here - as someone not living in America who can't readily buy manga, every time scanlations are not available anymore it creates a problem for me so I won't be exposing the sources where I get the manga publicly. When there's a manga I really love (like this one) I do buy the book(s) (usually in Japanese and then use the scanlations as practice but I have bought some in English as well), but I prefer to only buy what I love and not blindly buy a manga for the reason I brought up before (also the shipping fees are atrocious, especially when it's a pile of books so I have to be selective). If you can buy manga, of course I encourage you to buy, if you want to sample it first like I do and can't find links, just PM me and I'll gladly help.

on even more troubling news, I've seen this tidbit about Minekura-sensei, one of my favorite mangakas, on MAL:



I knew her manga were on hiatus for a while, but I had no idea it was because of something this serious. I'm so glad she's making a recovery and hope she's going to make a full recovery, as much as possible. She's just so talented and Wild Adapter and Saiyuki are among my favorite series ever. It would be sad if she weren't able to finish them, so I hope she'll be able to resume work on them eventually, however long it takes. They are her life work, definitely. Well, I hope 2011 will be a positive year for her as well!
