Hey guys! Some of you may remember my reverse bang/swappy fanart/fanfic exchange, the shaggydog_swap. Less of you may remember/know that I designed all the stuff for it, like the gifs and promos and layout, etc. It was all just with my handwriting, which was fine since most of it was a small amount of text.

WELL, I decided to make myself a workable font of the typeface I used for it! I'm relatively proud of it, so I thought I'd share it. It's not perfect, but whatever. :D

Hey! I have a stupid not-really-actually "Parent Trap" situation on my hands! lol...

There was a post posted on a tumblr called thefluffingtonpost, where people submit fake Huffington Post-type articles related to pictures of their cats or other pets. This is the post we'll be discussing:

And this is a HUUUGE stretch, and highly unlikely, but that cat looks TOO much like my cat!! (You may remember, she died last year)! So I wrote the lady a letter saying I'm in the Bay Area, CA, and we had to drive awhile to get my cat, and she had a sister...lol. God, I'm not a crazy cat lady, I just thought I'd ask? I just wondered how old her cat is?

They also share the "take no shit" attitude, and I have proof! I made a LOLcat I made of my Ashley a few years ago:

I just find this really weird. I know cats have different breeds and that maybe all cats like this look like this? But she was a Persian/Mix...It'll be interesting to find out.

I'm very angry, having just discovered the way that StumbleUpon lets users differentiate between what is Safe For Work and Not Safe For Work and anything LGBTQ-related seems to fall under NSFW. I've written to GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), and I wanted to post my letter to them explaining the situation and I'd love this to get spread around and eventually - hopefully - rectified on StumbleUpon.

Title: Canis Major

Notes/comments: I asked escribo for prompts for painting, and one of three was "constellation". So, obviously I did Canis Major which features Sirius!! I used a tricky little technique for this where I put museum wax where the stars went on the paper, then painted the sky, then once dry I peeled off the museum wax revealing fresh paper!

Notes/comments: This is the only bigger paintings of this post. It's the main prompt-fill from escribo. She asked for "something from one of my favorite songs at the mo' Peter, Paul, and Mary's Leaving on a Jet Plane (a taxi in the rain? the dawn is breaking, it's early morn, the taxis waiting, he's blowing his horn)." So, I've made an interesting interpretation, as I grew up LOVING the John Denver version.

Notes/comments: This I just painted it, just cuz. It's of the side of my house. As I was painting, I decided to give it to my mom. But when I finished it, she was asleep so I had to wait, but in the meantime I showed it to my dad, and he FLIPPED over how much he loved it. But I'd already told my mom I was giving it to her! D: So, I followed through and gave it to her. And now it's obvious she doesn't like it, but won't flat-out say so, it's the way she says things. But my dad honestly wants it and loves it. So, now I'm on a mission to make him something as good, but I've failed twice now. BUT ANYWAY, THE PAINTING IN QUESTION:

Notes/comments: This is my 2nd attempt to paint something as good for my dad, this is the view I have right now, in the living room, and this is the our "Display Window" that face out the front of the house. I was taking my mom's advice to try drawing from real life, so while I took a photo, I never looked at it since it's my view from where I was painting. :D But it's where my dad sits, and he saw it and didn't flip out, and it probably would just remind him of watching movies... I don't like it much either. It's pointless. lol, bet you can't wait to see it!

Notes/comments: amuly requested "Space Shuttle" (amongst other things). So, funny little story - that I may have already told you - in 1988, when I was just learning to talk, and one day I started obviously requesting something of my mom by pointing at the window and crying "BAY SHUDDO". And my mom had no clue what it could be (I once called the Grinch, "Whemph"), and so this went on for a few days me getting more and more frustrated with my mother. "MUMMY! BAY SHUDDOH, BAY SHUDDOH!" Until finally one night on the television, the news showed footage of the Discovery Space Shuttle and I jumped up and pointed again, "Mummy! Bay shuddo!"

So, as you lovely people know, yesterday was my birthday!! Lea took me to the Winchester Mystery House:

Winchester Mystery House is an extravagant maze of Victorian craftsmanship – marvelous, baffling, and eerily eccentric, to say the least. Tour guides must warn people not to stray from the group or they could be lost for hours! Countless questions come to mind as you wander through the mansion – such as, what was Mrs. Winchester thinking when she had a staircase built that descends seven steps and then rises eleven?

Some of the architectural oddities may have practical explanations. For example, the Switchback Staircase, which has seven flights with forty four steps, rises only about nine feet, since each step is just two inches high. Mrs. Winchester arthritis was quite severe in her later years, and the stairway may have been designed to accommodate her disability.

I'd never been, but it's close enough that all my friends have been, and my cousins used to go, even my brother's been. Poor Lea's been a few times, but that's why I asked for it for my birthday - I knew she'd go yet again only if it was my birthday request.

Okay, so this is a really weird and specific thing to complain about, but I feel personally denigrated, and have yet another weird reason to hate Iron Maiden.

I've been watching this six-part documentary series on Monty Python on Netflix Instant Queue called, "Monty Python: Almost the Truth". It's a really awesome series with interviews mainly from the five remaining members of Python, but also of comedians and famous people they influenced, friend and acquaintances, etc. I'm on the 5th episode which is all about Monty Python's Life of Brian and it's great! But then, this interview with Bruce Dickinson, from the band Iron Maiden, really bugged me:

Well Bruce, I don't know specific statistics or numbers, but the majority of Americans do have to take atleast one foreign language class in middle school, high school and/or university. We may not have had the draconian methods of British boarding schools, but the funny part of this scene is not only that if he gets the grammar wrong there is the threat of corporeal punishment – it's also funny because the Centurion is not angry about the message, he's angry about the incorrect conjugation and sentence structure. As well as how Brian is making all the same mistakes we've all made when learning other languages.

You see Bruce, Americans aren't all stupid assholes, we have the ability to see something and relate it to our own experience. I've never taken Latin - I've taken French, Spanish & Italian. I also have I never made such glaring grammatical errors, but I have witnessed them. So I get it, and I find it hilarious. So, fuck you for thinking so little of >300 million people.

Hey guys! I want to start using this journal exclusively again. There's really no point of me having the 2, lol, and I love my username, and I've had this journal for aaages.

-Have any of you ever switched names or done something like merging 2 journals? I'm pretty sure I have to do it all manually? Is this true? I have Xjournal, but so far it seems quite useless...

"During my trip to Ilium and to point beyond - a two-week expedition bridging Christmas - I let a poor poet named Sherman Krebbs have my New York apartment free. My second wife had left me on the grounds that I was too pessimistic for an optimist to live with.
Krebbs was a bearded man, a platinum blond Jesus with spaniel eyes. He was no close friend of mine. I had met him at a cocktail party where he presented himself as National Chairman of Poets and Painters for Immediate Nuclear War. He begged for shelter, not necessarily bomb proof, and it happened that I had some.
When I returned to my apartment, still twanging with the puzzling spiritual implications of the unclaimed stone angle in Ilium, I found my apartment wrecked by a nihilistic debauch. Krebbs was gone; but, before leaving, he had run up three-hundred-dollar's worth of long-distance calls, set my couch on fire in five places, killed my cat and my avocado tree, and torn the door off my medicine cabinet.
He wrote this poem, in what proved to be excrement, on the yellow linoleum floor of my kitchen:

I have a kitchen.
But it is not a complete kitchen.
